Acquisition strengthens Protos’ overall integrated protection solutions offering through the addition of enhanced intelligence, executive protection, and consulting services
Southfield Capital has announced that its portfolio company, Security Services Holdings LLC, has acquired AT-RISK International, a globally recognized provider of protective services, intelligence, and risk consulting. This strategic move strengthens Protos’ position in the evolving security services market and expands its reach into high-value, specialized protection offerings.
To begin with, Protos has built a strong reputation as a tech-enabled managed security services provider since its founding in 2006. By leveraging a comprehensive service network, the company delivers scalable and integrated security solutions across North America. Now, with the addition of AT-RISK, Protos is taking a significant step toward building a more advanced, software-driven protection platform.
Moreover, AT-RISK brings deep expertise across multiple critical areas, including risk consulting, investigations, threat assessments, and global risk monitoring. Its services also cover executive protection, residential security, event safety, and asset protection. As a result, the acquisition enhances Protos’ ability to deliver intelligence-led, end-to-end security solutions tailored to enterprise clients and high-net-worth individuals.
In addition, this move aligns with Protos’ long-term growth strategy to expand into high-demand security segments. As global threats become more complex, organizations increasingly require integrated solutions that combine technology, intelligence, and specialized human expertise. Therefore, the combined capabilities of Protos and AT-RISK position the company to address these emerging challenges more effectively.
Mark Hjelle, CEO of Protos, highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition. “This acquisition marks an important milestone in our growth strategy as we look to continue expanding our addressable market and tap into additional high-growth areas. AT-RISK’s specialized capabilities perfectly complement our existing platform, and our combined offering better equips us to continue providing industry leading solutions that allow our clients to navigate their evolving security needs.”
Furthermore, Southfield Capital emphasized its commitment to supporting Protos’ expansion. Brandon Pinderhughes, Partner at Southfield, stated, “Protos continues to execute on its disciplined acquisition strategy focused on building a scaled, differentiated provider of protection solutions. The addition of AT-RISK represents an important step in this evolution, and we are excited to continue supporting Mark and the Protos team in this next phase of the Company’s growth story.”
Ultimately, this acquisition reflects a broader trend in the security industry, where providers are moving toward integrated, intelligence-driven models. By combining advanced technology with specialized services, Protos is positioning itself as a leading player in delivering comprehensive security solutions in an increasingly complex risk landscape.
