As enterprises expand AI adoption across devices, managing unseen risks on mobile platforms is becoming a critical cybersecurity priority. Lookout has introduced a new capability aimed at closing this gap, with the launch of Lookout AI Visibility & Governance. The solution is designed to give organizations real time insight into how artificial intelligence is being used across mobile environments, an area often overlooked by traditional security tools. Lookout Introduces Mobile AI Visibility and Governance to address growing concerns around Shadow AI, where unauthorized tools and agents operate beyond the reach of enterprise controls.
The platform extends AI discovery and policy enforcement directly into the mobile layer, allowing organizations to identify both sanctioned and unsanctioned AI applications in use. This provides a comprehensive view of enterprise AI activity, exposing hidden risks that conventional endpoint and cloud based tools fail to detect. As mobile devices increasingly serve as primary access points for business workflows, this visibility becomes essential to maintaining control over sensitive data and AI driven interactions.
The new offering builds on Lookout’s mobile centric security platform by moving beyond device protection to actively governing AI activity. It enables organizations to monitor autonomous agents, detect unusual behavior, and enforce policies in real time. This includes preventing unauthorized data access and reducing the risk of information exposure through Shadow AI applications or embedded AI components within mobile apps.
“AI adoption is accelerating faster than most organizations can see or control, especially on mobile devices, where AI activity often operates outside traditional corporate boundaries and remains largely invisible,” said Jim Dolce. “With the launch of Lookout AI Visibility & Governance, we’re closing that gap, giving organizations the ability to see, understand, and govern AI usage at the mobile layer, bringing mobile AI activity out of the shadows into full visibility and control.”
Industry data underscores the urgency of the issue. A recent survey of CISOs and senior security leaders commissioned by Lookout found that nearly 60 percent of organizations lack the ability to monitor AI activity on mobile devices. Additionally, 68 percent reported limited visibility into how autonomous agents operate on user devices, while 72 percent could not identify AI software development kits embedded within applications. These gaps highlight the scale of Shadow AI risks and the need for more comprehensive governance solutions.
Lookout’s platform also supports compliance efforts by generating audit ready insights aligned with major frameworks such as the EU AI Act, the National Institute of Standards and Technology AI Risk Management Framework, and ISO/IEC 42001. This capability helps organizations meet evolving regulatory requirements while maintaining visibility into AI usage patterns.
“While monitoring and control over AI deployment on laptops and within the corporate network is rightly growing, monitoring of AI usage on mobile platforms lags far behind,” said Mark Child, Associate Research Director at IDC. “This situation can create increased risk due to the lack of visibility and control over AI usage in the mobile domain.”
Lookout Introduces Mobile AI Visibility and Governance as a strategic step toward securing enterprise AI adoption in a mobile first world. As organizations continue to integrate AI into everyday workflows, solutions that provide deep visibility and enforce governance across all endpoints will be essential to reducing risk and ensuring long term cybersecurity resilience.
