Entrust has announced a strategic collaboration with IBM Consulting to help enterprises take control of their cryptographic environments and transition toward quantum-safe security. Through this partnership, both companies aim to address growing concerns around quantum computing threats while enabling organizations to adopt governed, scalable, and future-ready cryptographic strategies.
To begin with, the collaboration combines IBM Consulting’s Quantum Safe Transformation Services with the Entrust Cryptographic Security Platform. Together, these solutions will support enterprises in planning, governing, and executing their transition to quantum-resistant cryptography. As organizations face increasing regulatory pressure and evolving cyber threats, this partnership offers a structured and practical approach to modernizing cryptographic systems.
Moreover, the joint solution introduces an enterprise-wide cryptographic operating model powered by the Entrust Cryptographic Security Platform. Acting as a unified control plane, the platform provides continuous discovery, enhanced visibility, policy enforcement, and lifecycle automation across certificates, keys, and secrets. Consequently, organizations can move beyond basic awareness of post-quantum risks and begin executing measurable strategies. In addition, this model helps reduce cryptographic debt, minimize outages, and eliminate audit gaps, ultimately improving operational resilience.
As quantum computing rapidly evolves, it has shifted from a theoretical concern to a board-level priority. This is particularly critical for regulated industries and organizations handling long-lived sensitive data. At the same time, threat actors are already adopting “harvest now, decrypt later” strategies, collecting encrypted data for future exploitation. Therefore, enterprises must act proactively rather than delaying their transition.
However, many organizations still struggle with cryptographic sprawl, where certificates, keys, and secrets are distributed across legacy systems, cloud environments, and DevOps pipelines under inconsistent policies. Traditional approaches, such as one-time assessments or fragmented tools, fail to address these challenges effectively. As a result, a unified control and remediation framework becomes essential for successful transformation.
To address these gaps, the joint solution delivers a comprehensive, end-to-end program. First, it enables enterprise-wide discovery and risk assessment using the Entrust platform, mapping cryptographic exposure to business services, data longevity, and regulatory requirements. Next, it provides a business-aligned migration roadmap developed through IBM Consulting’s Quantum Safe Migration Orchestrator, which prioritizes actions based on risk and compliance needs. Finally, it supports managed execution and continuous governance, ensuring safe implementation, automated workflows, and ongoing compliance in hybrid and post-quantum environments.
“With regulatory expectations increasing and quantum computing advances continuing to accelerate, organizations can no longer treat quantum risk as a future concern. Preparation can no longer be delayed,” said Dinesh Nagarajan, Executive Partner and Global Service Line Leader for Quantum-Safe and Data Security, IBM Consulting. “By partnering with Entrust, we can help organizations move decisively toward post-quantum readiness, with solutions built for sustainable governance, resilience, and scale.”
Furthermore, the partnership delivers several strategic advantages. It establishes a centralized cryptographic control plane, enabling consistent governance across PKI, certificates, keys, and secrets. At the same time, it aligns cryptographic maturity with business risk, ensuring that security investments directly support operational priorities. Additionally, it reduces complexity by simplifying policy management across legacy, cloud, and hybrid environments.
“Quantum preparedness starts with regaining control of your cryptography across applications, clouds, identities, and infrastructure. We are excited to partner with IBM Consulting, which brings deep expertise in orchestrating the enterprise transformation required to deliver effective cryptographic management. Entrust supports this with its unified control plane for PKI, keys, certificates, and secrets, anchored in post-quantum compliant hardware security modules. Together, we can help customers establish governance, reduce operational risk today, and adopt crypto-agility so they can transition to post-quantum standards with confidence,” said Mike Baxter, Chief Technology & Product Officer, Entrust.
Overall, this collaboration positions Entrust and IBM Consulting at the forefront of quantum-safe transformation, enabling enterprises to strengthen resilience, maintain compliance, and prepare confidently for the next era of cybersecurity.
