As AI driven cyber threats reshape the digital landscape, enterprises are rethinking how domain strategy fits into broader cybersecurity planning. CSC urges enterprises evaluate applying for .BRAND domains as a timely response to both rising risks and emerging opportunities tied to artificial intelligence. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has opened a new Generic Top Level Domain application window running from April 30 to August 12, 2026, marking the first opportunity since 2012 for organizations to secure custom branded domains.

According to CSC, which manages more than one third of all existing .BRAND domains worldwide, owning a .BRAND extension gives companies full control over their domain infrastructure. This control helps reduce risks tied to lookalike domains often used in phishing campaigns and domain spoofing attacks. As cybercriminals increasingly use automation and AI powered techniques, domain security has become a frontline concern for enterprise risk management.

“The cyber threat landscape has escalated dramatically since the last .BRAND registration period in 2012, with AI now increasing the volume and complexity of various cyber risks ranging from automated phishing kits to domain generation algorithms,” says Gretchen Olive, vice president of Policy and Strategic Account Management at CSC Digital Brand Services. “Major global technology companies are already consolidating infrastructure services under .BRAND TLDs, citing enhanced security, privacy, and spoofing protection as primary drivers.”

The company brings extensive experience from the first application round, having supported more than 250 .BRAND submissions with a full success rate. With certifications such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2, CSC provides registry management and compliance support across multiple jurisdictions, enabling enterprises to meet complex regulatory and data privacy requirements. This capability is increasingly important as organizations align domain strategies with Zero Trust security frameworks and enterprise wide threat intelligence systems.

“CSC supports us with the whole operational package around our three .BRANDS,” states Charlotte Falck, head of Group Trademarks and Brand Related IP. “The compliance that we have to undertake according to the ICANN program is extensive and also quite complicated if I may say so. So, we have outsourced everything to CSC, and I think it works very well.”

Beyond security, .BRAND domains are gaining traction as a strategic asset in digital trust and AI discoverability. They provide a verified and exclusive namespace that enhances credibility for both users and AI driven search systems. This becomes increasingly relevant as organizations optimize for generative engine optimization and answer engine optimization, where authority signals influence how brands are surfaced.

AI is reshaping how buyers and stakeholders discover and evaluate brands,” says Ihab Shraim. “Success in 2026 and beyond hinges on how well an organization shows up for GEO and AEO, and a .BRAND provides a verified authority signal that both AI systems and human visitors can recognize and trust in real-time.”

CSC urges enterprises evaluate applying for .BRAND domains early in the application cycle, noting that preparation can take up to eight weeks. Unlike the 2012 round, where many companies acted out of competitive pressure, the current window reflects a more mature understanding of how domain ownership intersects with cybersecurity, compliance, and long term digital strategy. As AI continues to redefine both threat vectors and brand discovery, .BRAND domains are emerging as a foundational layer in securing enterprise identity and trust online.
