At Google Cloud Next 2026, Atlassian officially advanced its long-standing collaboration with Google Cloud, aiming to deliver more powerful, integrated AI capabilities to teams across the globe. With this move, the company is strengthening its vision of enabling seamless teamwork through intelligent automation and agentic AI.
Notably, Atlassian is leveraging Google Cloud’s cutting-edge AI infrastructure and models to enhance its AI platform, Rovo. As a result, millions of users who depend on Rovo for collaboration will experience smarter workflows and improved productivity. Furthermore, the company is deepening integrations across Google Workspace and Gemini Enterprise, allowing users to access AI-driven agents directly within their everyday tools.
This announcement builds upon the success of the partnership revealed last year. In recognition of its innovation and collaboration, Atlassian also secured the prestigious 2026 Google Cloud Partner of the Year Award in the Technology: Application Development – Developer Experience category.
“With Google Cloud, we’re co-engineering the infrastructure and AI agents that teams will rely on to deliver mission-critical work,” said Jamil Valliani, Head of Product, AI at Atlassian. “By combining our AI-powered system of work and Rovo with Google Cloud’s leading AI stack, we’re giving customers more choice and powerful agentic workflows to improve how work gets done.”
At the same time, Google Cloud emphasized the broader impact of this collaboration on modern work environments. “The shift towards agentic AI is transforming how teams operate,” said Satish Thomas, Vice President, Applied AI & Platform Ecosystem, Google Cloud. “By deepening our partnership with Atlassian, we’re embedding the power of Gemini Enterprise and Google Workspace directly into the teamwork stack. This approach provides all teams with the secure, governed, and highly productive workflows they need to scale from idea to execution seamlessly.”
In terms of infrastructure, Atlassian is now building a high-performance AI backbone powered by Google Kubernetes Engine and Google Cloud’s AI Hypercomputer. This unified orchestration layer enables scalable workloads across GPUs and Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), ensuring both flexibility and efficiency. Early results already indicate notable improvements in scalability and operational agility.
Additionally, the partnership introduces Gemini 3 Flash into Rovo, significantly enhancing its ability to manage complex reasoning, multimodal processing, and enterprise-level summarization. Consequently, users gain access to one of the most advanced large language models available today while retaining flexibility in model selection.
A practical example of this innovation is seen in the newly introduced Remix feature in Confluence. With this capability, users can instantly convert text-based content into visually rich diagrams and charts. Powered by Gemini’s multimodal strengths, this feature ensures clearer communication and faster decision-making across teams.
Moreover, Atlassian continues to embrace an open, multi-model, and multi-cloud strategy. This approach allows organizations to maintain flexibility while still benefiting from best-in-class AI capabilities.
Beyond infrastructure and models, the partnership also focuses on deeper integrations. Rovo now works seamlessly with Google Workspace and Gemini Enterprise, enabling unified workflows across platforms. For instance, users can directly access Atlassian data within Google Docs or Gmail, eliminating the need to switch between tools. Similarly, Gemini-powered agents can now operate within Atlassian environments, creating a truly connected ecosystem.
Ultimately, this collaboration underscores a shared commitment to governed and human-centric AI adoption. By combining strategic oversight with continuous research, Atlassian and Google Cloud are helping organizations scale AI confidently while maintaining control and trust.
