Leaseweb is accelerating Europe’s push toward digital sovereignty through its European Cloud Campus initiative, a key part of the IPCEI-CIS program. The project reflects growing efforts across the region to build secure, scalable, and independent cloud infrastructure tailored to European data and regulatory requirements.
Over the past year, Leaseweb has made notable progress in expanding its cloud capabilities, introducing enhancements such as autoscaling, load balancing, privacy-focused storage, and programmable virtual overlay networking. These advancements are designed to improve both flexibility and security, enabling organizations to better manage complex, modern workloads.
According to Robert van der Meulen, the company is actively transforming the vision of a sovereign European cloud into a practical reality. He emphasized that the combination of infrastructure expansion, open APIs, and developer-focused tools demonstrates how technology and industry collaboration are driving the next phase of cloud innovation in Europe.
Leaseweb has also introduced new automation tools, including open APIs, a Terraform provider, and advanced monitoring systems. These additions simplify integration for developers and allow organizations to automate cloud deployments more efficiently, supporting faster innovation and operational agility.
Beyond infrastructure, the company has played an active role in the broader cloud ecosystem. In 2025, Leaseweb hosted industry events such as the Leaseweb Tech Summit and contributed to dozens of open-source projects, reinforcing its commitment to collaboration and innovation within the European tech community.
As the only Dutch cloud provider directly participating in the IPCEI-CIS program, Leaseweb is positioning itself as a key player in Europe’s digital future. Its approach centers on giving customers greater control over their data while ensuring compliance with regional standards.
Further strengthening its capabilities, Leaseweb recently expanded its global cloud portfolio with GPU-powered infrastructure from NVIDIA, enabling advanced AI and high-performance computing workloads.
As demand for secure and sovereign cloud solutions continues to grow, Leaseweb’s latest developments highlight a broader shift toward regional control, technological independence, and future-ready infrastructure across Europe.
