New Capability Automatically Sanitizes Email Attachments in Microsoft Outlook to Prevent Hidden Malware Threats
Glasswall has announced the launch of its new M365 Outlook Integration, expanding its Zero Trust file protection capabilities to help organizations defend against malicious email attachments in real time. The solution is built within Glasswall’s Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) platform and is designed to secure one of the most common entry points for cyber threats—email.
The integration works seamlessly with Microsoft Outlook, automatically sanitizing file attachments the moment they arrive in a user’s inbox. Using the Glasswall Halo platform, the system removes malicious code and embedded threats, including harmful hyperlinks, before reconstructing the file into a clean and fully functional version. This entire process occurs in the background, ensuring users experience no disruption while remaining protected.
Unlike traditional security tools that rely on detecting known threats, Glasswall’s approach is based on prevention. Its CDR technology eliminates potential risks without needing to identify them first, ensuring that even unknown or emerging threats are neutralized before they can cause harm. This method has already been trusted by defense and national security agencies, and Glasswall is now extending that same level of protection to everyday business environments.
According to Paul Farrington, email continues to be the most targeted attack vector for organizations, yet many existing solutions still depend heavily on detection-based methods. By sanitizing every attachment at the point of entry, the new Outlook integration introduces a proactive layer of defense that strengthens overall email security.
The M365 Outlook Integration also complements Glasswall’s broader Microsoft 365 security ecosystem, including its Storage Monitoring capabilities for SharePoint and OneDrive. Together, these solutions provide organizations with a comprehensive approach to securing files across their digital workplace.
As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, Glasswall’s latest innovation highlights a shift toward prevention-first cybersecurity strategies—helping organizations stay ahead of attacks by eliminating risks before they ever reach the user.
