Cohesity, a recognized leader in AI-driven data security, has introduced major threat protection enhancements to its Cohesity Data Cloud platform. Through deeper integration with Google Threat Intelligence and the addition of Google Private Scanning, the company is enabling organizations to detect, analyze, and eliminate malware before it can trigger large-scale cyber incidents. As cyber threats continue to evolve in sophistication, enterprises are increasingly seeking proactive security solutions that go beyond traditional detection models. Therefore, Cohesity is focusing on intelligence-driven malware analysis embedded directly within its cyber resilience ecosystem.
Unlike legacy backup security tools that rely heavily on static signatures, external integrations, or manual analysis processes, Cohesity now delivers native malware intelligence directly inside the platform. Consequently, organizations can close a critical security gap undetected threats hiding inside historical backup data. This is particularly important as attackers increasingly deploy stealthy, persistent malware designed to evade detection and remain dormant for extended periods.
Modern ransomware campaigns, supply chain attacks, and polymorphic malware variants have become more complex and difficult to detect using traditional tools. In response, Cohesity embedded Google Threat Intelligence into the Data Cloud environment to provide real-time threat context and secure malware detonation capabilities through a centralized interface. As a result, IT and security teams can streamline workflows, reduce response times, and improve confidence when making recovery decisions.

“Undetected malware hidden in backup data can both reinfect restored systems and, when properly scanned, reveal low-and-slow attacks that evade traditional detection,” said Vasu Murthy, Chief Product Officer, Cohesity. “By integrating Google Threat Intelligence, including Google Private Scanning, directly into the interface of Cohesity Data Cloud, we’re giving customers exceptional visibility and context into potential threats and powerful new ways to assess and eliminate risk without fragmenting workflows or introducing operational complexity.”
One of the most impactful additions is the contextual display of threat intelligence insights directly within the Cohesity interface. These insights include indicators of compromise (IOCs), reputation scoring, and detailed threat analysis supported by Mandiant’s real-world incident response expertise. Therefore, security teams can rapidly investigate suspicious files without switching between multiple security tools or relying on manual data transfers between departments.
Additionally, Cohesity introduced secure sandbox analysis powered by Google Private Scanning. This capability allows organizations to safely detonate unknown or suspicious files in an isolated environment before restoring them into production systems. Importantly, this process preserves data sovereignty and privacy while still delivering deep behavioral analysis. Security teams can observe system-level changes, registry activity, network communication patterns, and potential malicious payload behaviors. Consequently, organizations gain accurate risk assessments before reintroducing data into operational environments.

These enhancements significantly improve threat detection speed and accuracy. Furthermore, they strengthen collaboration between IT and security teams by providing a unified threat intelligence view. By embedding contextual intelligence directly into recovery workflows, Cohesity ensures organizations can identify threats earlier and respond more effectively.
The updates also build on Cohesity’s ongoing collaboration with Google Cloud. Recently, the company expanded its cyber resilience roadmap by integrating Cohesity FortKnox a managed cyber vault solution into Google Cloud environments. FortKnox maintains air-gapped, isolated backups of critical enterprise data, ensuring clean recovery even if primary systems and traditional backups are compromised.
“At Google Cloud, we understand firsthand how attackers hide malicious payloads in places traditional security tools never look including backups,” said Miton Adhikari, Head of Security OEM Partnerships. “By embedding Google Threat Intelligence and private sandboxing directly into Cohesity’s cyber resilience platform, organizations can detect what others miss and recover with greater speed and confidence.”
Overall, these new capabilities demonstrate Cohesity’s strategy to redefine cyber resilience by combining intelligence-driven threat detection, secure malware analysis, and rapid recovery into a unified platform. As organizations face increasingly advanced cyber threats, this integrated approach enables faster response times, stronger recovery confidence, and improved protection against hidden and emerging attack vectors.
