At the RSA Conference, Yubico announced a significant expansion of its Enrollment services, further strengthening its mission to enable phishing-resistant and passwordless authentication. Known as the creator of the YubiKey, the company is now extending its capabilities to support secure, in-the-field enrollment for Microsoft Entra ID and PingID environments.

With this expansion, Yubico aims to help organizations accelerate their transition to passwordless security while simplifying how they configure and secure identity systems such as EntraID and PingOne PingID. Moreover, these enhancements enable businesses to customize user registration and account recovery workflows with greater flexibility and control.

In addition, Yubico has introduced a new mobile solution, the YubiKey as a Service – Enroll app, which is currently available in Limited Early Access for Android users. During this phase, the company is actively gathering feedback from enterprise customers to refine the offering. Eventually, the solution will be released both as a standalone application and as an SDK, allowing organizations to seamlessly integrate enrollment workflows into their existing IT and HR systems.

“As cyber attacks become more sophisticated, organizations are increasingly seeking faster ways to eliminate passwords and protect users from phishing-based credential theft,” said Albert Biketi, chief product and technology officer at Yubico. “The expansion of YubiKey as a Service – with these new Enrollment service options – makes it easier for IT or business line managers to easily enroll and recover YubiKeys for their users. It also gives organizations the flexibility to integrate YubiKey deployment directly into their existing workflows – fast-tracking passwordless adoption and strengthening security across the enterprise.”

Flexible Enrollment Options for Scalable Deployment

To address diverse enterprise needs, Yubico now offers multiple enrollment approaches. For instance, organizations can choose a fully managed service that delivers pre-configured YubiKeys directly to employees, ensuring passwordless access from day one. This FIDO Pre-reg solution simplifies operations by shipping factory-programmed keys globally, reducing the burden on IT teams. Currently, it is generally available with partners like Okta, Ping Identity, and Versasec, while remaining in Early Access for Microsoft environments.

Alternatively, businesses can leverage the YubiKey as a Service – Enroll app and SDK for on-site deployment. This option enables IT teams, HR departments, and even non-technical staff to securely enroll YubiKeys on behalf of users. As a result, organizations can streamline onboarding processes and rapidly deploy phishing-resistant authentication across their workforce.

Furthermore, Yubico provides YubiEnroll, a command-line tool designed for technical teams. This free solution allows quick enrollment and distribution of YubiKeys, particularly in scenarios where managed services or logistics support may not be available.

Strengthening Security with Advanced Capabilities

Beyond flexibility, Yubico emphasizes security and operational efficiency through several key features. For example, organizations can securely set up and assign YubiKeys from anywhere without complex configurations, as backend provisioning is handled by Yubico. At the same time, end-to-end encryption ensures that all enrollment data remains protected from interception or tampering.

Additionally, businesses benefit from flexible delivery options, enabling global distribution through direct shipping or logistics partners. The platform also provides full visibility and auditing, automatically tracking enrollment and activation events to support compliance requirements. Importantly, YubiKeys can be securely reset and reassigned, making it easier to manage user lifecycle changes such as role transitions or employee departures.

Ultimately, by combining flexible enrollment models with hardware-backed phishing resistance, Yubico empowers organizations to deploy secure authentication at scale. Consequently, enterprises can strengthen governance, enhance user onboarding, and accelerate their journey toward a passwordless future without compromising on security or operational control.
