HAT Distribution has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Tailscale across Oceania, covering Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. Through this partnership, HAT aims to expand its security portfolio while helping regional businesses transition away from legacy networking models.
To begin with, the agreement introduces Tailscale’s secure connectivity platform to HAT’s partner ecosystem. Unlike traditional VPN solutions that rely on centralized gateways and hub-and-spoke architectures, Tailscale uses a peer-to-peer mesh networking model. As a result, organizations can establish direct, encrypted connections between systems, improving both performance and security.
Moreover, as enterprises increasingly adopt hybrid and multicloud environments, managing secure access has become more complex. Therefore, this partnership comes at a time when businesses are actively seeking simpler and more scalable ways to connect users, devices, and infrastructure. With distributed IT environments expanding rapidly especially with the integration of AI-driven tools teams face growing pressure to maintain consistent access controls across diverse systems.
In addition, HAT Distribution will provide localized technical support and enablement services to its partners. This includes helping resellers and service providers deploy Tailscale’s platform more efficiently, enabling them to deliver secure connectivity solutions without the operational overhead associated with traditional VPN infrastructure.
At the same time, Tailscale has been expanding its platform beyond networking into areas such as privileged access management and AI governance. Consequently, partners can leverage this broader functionality to build managed services that address evolving enterprise needs, including secure workload connectivity and infrastructure control.
Josh Gammer, Director of HAT Distribution, emphasized the shift in customer expectations: “Organisations are looking for simpler ways to securely connect users, devices, and distributed systems across cloud and hybrid environments. Tailscale delivers that with a much cleaner approach – one that’s built around identity, not network boundaries.”
He further added, “As Tailscale expands into privileged access and AI governance, partners have a practical way to help customers modernise secure access and infrastructure controls on a shared foundation of identity, policy, and connectivity. It opens the door for new managed services and gives customers a faster path to modernising their environments.”
Meanwhile, for HAT, this exclusive agreement strengthens its role as a value-added distributor. Instead of merely supplying software, the company continues to focus on providing technical expertise, architectural guidance, and service development support to its partners across the region.
On the other hand, for Tailscale, the partnership offers a strategic route to market in Oceania through an established distributor with strong regional expertise. This move aligns with the company’s goal of helping organizations move away from outdated networking approaches toward more flexible, identity-driven models.
Tailscale CEO and Co-Founder Avery Pennarun highlighted this transition, stating, “Tailscale takes a different approach: make networking simple, reliable, and invisible to the user.” He also noted, “HAT has a solid track record of building services around platforms that work this way, which puts us in a good position to help partners across Oceania move off legacy models and onto something much better.”
Ultimately, as organizations continue to modernize their IT environments, this partnership underscores the growing demand for secure, scalable, and easy-to-deploy connectivity solutions in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
