Oracle has announced the launch of a new public cloud region in Casablanca, Morocco, marking a significant step in expanding its global cloud and AI infrastructure. The new region is designed to meet the growing demand for advanced cloud services and artificial intelligence capabilities across Morocco and the wider North African market, with N+ONE Datacenters serving as the hosting partner.
The Casablanca cloud region is part of Oracle’s broader distributed cloud strategy, aimed at enabling both public and private sector organizations to modernize applications and drive innovation through data, analytics, and AI. By offering local access to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), the region supports seamless migration of on-premises workloads while ensuring high performance and scalability.
A major focus of the new deployment is data sovereignty and regulatory compliance. The Casablanca region allows organizations to store and process data within national borders, addressing strict requirements in government, public sector, and highly regulated industries. This localized approach ensures that enterprises can adopt cloud technologies without compromising on compliance or data governance.
Cormac Watters, Executive Vice President and General Manager, EMEA at Oracle, highlighted the strategic importance of the launch, stating that the Casablanca region represents a major milestone in supporting Morocco’s ambition to become a regional hub for AI and digital innovation. He emphasized that the new infrastructure will provide organizations with secure, high-performance capabilities to innovate and compete globally.
The new cloud region also strengthens Oracle’s AI ecosystem in Morocco by providing access to advanced services such as OCI Generative AI, OCI AI Agent Platform, and Oracle AI Data Platform. These tools are expected to empower enterprises, startups, and investors to accelerate AI adoption, including use cases in model training, inference, and data-driven decision-making.
Oracle’s investment aligns with Morocco’s “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, which aims to accelerate digital transformation and foster innovation across key sectors. By delivering cutting-edge AI and cloud solutions locally, Oracle is enabling businesses and government entities to build scalable, future-ready digital infrastructures.
Looking ahead, Oracle plans to further expand its presence in Morocco with the opening of a second public cloud region in Settat. This expansion is part of a broader push across Africa, where Oracle already operates a cloud region in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has announced plans for a new region in Nairobi, Kenya – highlighting one of the fastest hyperscaler expansions on the continent.
Oracle’s distributed cloud model plays a central role in this strategy, offering flexible deployment options across public cloud, dedicated cloud, hybrid cloud, and multicloud environments. This approach allows customers to choose how and where to run their workloads while maintaining consistent performance, security, and governance standards.
