Mobile Mentor, a prominent managed services provider (MSP), has announced the acquisition of 5th Gear Technology Concepts, a Tennessee-based technology services firm recognized for its expertise in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) and industry-focused IT solutions. Headquartered in Brentwood, 5th Gear Technology Concepts has established a strong foothold in highly regulated sectors, particularly healthcare. The company delivers a wide range of services, including cybersecurity, managed IT, cloud hosting, networking, and hardware solutions, with a significant client base across medical and dental practices.

The acquisition represents a strategic expansion for Mobile Mentor as it intensifies its focus on the healthcare market. By integrating 5th Gear’s specialized industry knowledge with its own strengths in Microsoft technologies, Mobile Mentor aims to provide a more comprehensive, end-to-end service offering. The combined capabilities are expected to help organizations enhance security, maintain compliance, and maximize the value of their existing technology investments.

Denis O’Shea, Founder and CEO of Mobile Mentor, emphasized the alignment between the two companies, noting that shared customers and complementary strengths made the acquisition a natural progression. He highlighted that the integration would enable clients to operate in more secure, productive, and compliant environments.

Glenn Porter, President of 5th Gear Technology Concepts, described the deal as a significant milestone for his organization. He pointed to the strong cultural and strategic alignment between the two companies, particularly their shared commitment to healthcare-focused solutions. Porter added that joining Mobile Mentor would allow 5th Gear to expand its capabilities and deliver greater value to its clients while continuing to build on established relationships.

The combined organization is expected to deliver more integrated and business-aligned technology solutions, simplifying IT operations while improving security and compliance outcomes. The move also reflects a broader shift in the MSP market toward specialized, security-driven, and platform-centric service models.

Craig Guice, President of Mobile Mentor, noted that the acquisition supports the company’s vision of building a modern MSP closely aligned with the Microsoft ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of delivering measurable outcomes in complex, regulated environments and indicated that Mobile Mentor will continue seeking partnerships with like-minded MSPs as part of its growth strategy.

As part of the integration plan, Mobile Mentor intends to relocate to 5th Gear’s office in Maryland Farms, a key hub within a major healthcare corridor. The leadership team from 5th Gear will also be fully integrated into Mobile Mentor to help drive continued expansion With this acquisition, Mobile Mentor is positioning itself for accelerated growth, strengthening its presence across North America, Australia, and New Zealand while deepening its capabilities in serving healthcare organizations and other regulated industries.
