Check Point Software Technologies has announced the launch of a new data residency instance in Perth, expanding its Workplace Security SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific region. The new Perth point of presence (PoP) strengthens the company’s regional network, which already includes locations in Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland. It is specifically designed to support enterprise and government organizations in Western Australia that require locally hosted security services to meet strict data sovereignty and compliance requirements.
Check Point said the new deployment aligns with key Australian regulatory frameworks, including the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act, the Privacy Act, the My Health Records Act, APRA CPS 234, and the ASD Essential Eight. By enabling local data processing and storage, the Perth PoP helps organizations meet these compliance obligations while reducing latency and improving performance for users in the region.
The Perth instance is built with redundancy and autoscaling capabilities, featuring high-availability clusters and multiple network paths to eliminate single points of failure. It also integrates core SASE capabilities such as threat prevention, cloud application visibility, and centralized policy management.
Each PoP enforces Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) policies, ensuring that only authorized users and devices can access resources. Traffic is routed through Check Point’s private backbone, which dynamically optimizes network paths based on real-time conditions.
David Caspari emphasized that the new Perth location allows organizations to avoid routing traffic to distant data centers, resulting in faster access to applications and improved overall user experience.
The expansion also supports AI-driven security capabilities, enabling enterprises to strengthen their cybersecurity posture while advancing digital transformation initiatives. The Perth PoP is part of Check Point’s broader global network of more than 80 interconnected locations, designed to deliver consistent, high-performance security services worldwide.
The company also highlighted its recent completion of an Australian Government IRAP assessment for its Cloud Infinity platform at the PROTECTED classification level, reinforcing its focus on meeting stringent government security standards. With this expansion, Check Point continues to invest in localized infrastructure to meet evolving regulatory demands and provide scalable, secure connectivity for organizations operating in highly regulated environments.
