Oracle Enhances AI Database for Security and Uptime

Oracle Enhances AI Database for Security and Uptime

As enterprises increasingly rely on AI driven workloads and real time data processing, ensuring extreme availability and robust security has become essential across the cybertech ecosystem. Oracle has announced major enhancements to its AI Database platform, aimed at delivering near zero downtime and advanced protection for mission critical applications.

The Oracle AI Database enhancements introduce new tiers of availability and security capabilities designed to support enterprise scale workloads without requiring application changes. With the release of Oracle AI Database 26ai, customers can now achieve Platinum tier availability with disaster recovery times typically under 30 seconds, while more advanced deployments can reach Diamond tier availability with failover times under three seconds.

Oracle stated that its database technology already supports more than 90 percent of the world’s largest enterprises, highlighting the importance of maintaining uninterrupted performance for high throughput applications. The latest updates build on this foundation by improving failover speeds, enhancing system resilience, and reducing downtime across both cloud and on premises environments.

“Oracle Database today powers over 90 percent of the world’s largest enterprises, and tens of thousands of smaller enterprises, all of which require ultra-high availability and throughput for their mission-critical workloads,” said Juan Loaiza. “Oracle AI Database 26ai on Exadata now delivers Platinum-tier availability with disaster failover times typically under 30 seconds, including for high-throughput multi-node clusters. This is up to 4X faster than Oracle Database 19c without requiring application changes or performance tradeoffs. For the most demanding applications, Oracle Distributed AI Database and Oracle GoldenGate can deliver Diamond-tier availability with disaster failover typically under three seconds.”

The platform enhancements include improvements to Oracle’s Maximum Availability Architecture, enabling faster data transfers, quicker recovery from node failures, and improved application continuity during system disruptions. Technologies such as Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Active Data Guard continue to play a central role in maintaining system resilience and scalability.

In addition to availability, the Oracle AI Database enhancements introduce advanced security features to address emerging threats. These include post quantum cryptography capabilities designed to protect against future decryption risks, as well as new data security controls that enforce fine grained access policies directly within the database. This approach helps prevent unauthorized access and reduces the risk of data leakage, particularly in AI driven environments.

Oracle also introduced Database Security Central, a unified platform for monitoring risk, managing configurations, and enforcing security policies across database environments. Combined with zero data loss recovery solutions, these capabilities strengthen resilience against ransomware and other cyber threats while improving compliance with regulatory requirements.

Industry analysts see the updates as a significant step forward in enterprise data architecture. “With this latest set of announcements, Oracle is reaching a new pinnacle of availability with their Diamond-tier Maximum Availability Architecture, delivering near zero downtime with failover times typically under three seconds and zero data loss,” said Holger Mueller.

The Oracle AI Database enhancements reflect a broader industry shift toward always on, highly secure data platforms capable of supporting both traditional applications and modern AI workloads. As organizations continue to adopt AI at scale, solutions that combine extreme availability with advanced security will be critical to maintaining performance, protecting sensitive data, and ensuring business continuity.
