Introduces WatchGuard Cloud Detection and Response, extending protection beyond endpoints and networks
WatchGuard Technologies has acquired Perimeters.io, a cloud application security company focused on identity threats, SaaS visibility, and cloud risk monitoring.
At the same time, WatchGuard introduced a new service called Cloud Detection and Response, or CloudDR, built around Perimeters’ technology. The platform is aimed at managed service providers that need broader visibility across customer cloud environments without adding another complicated security stack to manage.
The launch comes as MSPs deal with a growing problem across customer environments. Cloud applications continue expanding, employees are using AI tools faster than security teams can track them, and identity-based attacks are becoming more common.
For many service providers, keeping visibility across dozens of SaaS applications has become difficult enough. Doing it across hundreds of customers is an entirely different challenge.
What Happened
WatchGuard confirmed the acquisition of Perimeters.io, though the company did not share financial details.
The deal brings Perimeter’s cloud security technology into WatchGuard’s MSP-focused platform. According to WatchGuard, the new CloudDR service gives partners continuous visibility into cloud applications, identity activity, security gaps, and suspicious behavior across customer environments.
The platform currently supports more than 40 applications, including:

- Salesforce

- ConnectWise

WatchGuard says the service can identify risky cloud configurations, detect identity-related threats, and uncover shadow AI usage that might otherwise go unnoticed inside customer environments.
The company is also emphasizing operational simplicity. Instead of requiring MSPs to stitch together multiple enterprise tools, the platform is being positioned as a single service designed specifically for multi-tenant environments.

A few years ago, most MSP security conversations centered around endpoints, firewalls, and email protection.
That is no longer the case.
