His leadership also extends to his tenure as the 28th Signal Officer-in-Chief at Indian Army Headquarters, where he oversaw communications, electronic warfare, and information security operations.

Throughout his career, Lt Gen Nair has played a pivotal role in shaping India’s cybersecurity framework, advocating for a multi-stakeholder approach and emphasizing the need for widespread cyber hygiene awareness. His contributions span areas such as cyber warfare, signal intelligence, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cryptology, earning him prestigious honors including the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Sena Medal (SM).

Beyond his operational leadership, Lt Gen Nair is widely regarded as a thought leader in quantum cybersecurity strategy. Through his work with Observer Research Foundation, he has authored influential papers that address India’s preparedness for the quantum era. His insights emphasize a balanced and calibrated approach to quantum transition, alongside the importance of establishing national capabilities for testing, validation, and certification of -safe technologies.
