Acronis has introduced Acronis GenAI Protection, a new solution designed to help managed service providers (MSPs) monitor and secure the use of generative AI tools across client environments. The launch comes as organizations rapidly adopt AI-powered applications, often without adequate visibility or controls. This trend has created new risks, including sensitive data leakage, unauthorized “shadow AI” usage, and prompt-based attacks that manipulate AI systems. Acronis aims to address these challenges by providing a centralized platform that enables MSPs to manage AI security as part of their service offerings.
Acronis GenAI Protection is integrated into the company’s platform and represents the first phase of its broader Cyber Workspace initiative. The solution allows service providers to oversee AI usage across endpoints, applications, and environments through a single console, enabling policy enforcement, reporting, and risk mitigation.
According to Gaidar Magdanurov, President at Acronis, MSPs are well positioned to help businesses adopt AI securely but have lacked dedicated tools to manage associated risks. He said the new solution enables providers to turn AI security into a managed service while protecting customers from emerging threats.
The platform focuses on delivering visibility and control without adding complexity. It identifies and tracks generative AI tools in use, helping organizations understand how AI is being adopted and where potential risks exist. It also inspects user interactions with AI systems to detect and prevent the sharing of sensitive information such as personally identifiable or health-related data. Another key capability is protection against prompt-based attacks. The solution can detect and block malicious inputs designed to manipulate AI behavior, a growing concern as attackers explore new ways to exploit AI-driven workflows.
Industry analysts note that AI adoption is becoming mainstream among small and mid-sized businesses, particularly in areas such as marketing and sales. However, the increasing use of both enterprise and consumer AI tools is introducing new security challenges that require active management.
By embedding AI security directly into its platform, Acronis is positioning GenAI Protection as a practical solution for MSPs seeking to deliver secure, scalable AI adoption for their clients. The company also indicated that additional capabilities will be introduced as part of its Cyber Workspace roadmap, focusing on automation, governance, and broader protection of AI-driven environments. The launch reflects a wider shift in cybersecurity, where managing AI-related risks is becoming a critical component of enterprise security strategies.
