Vodafone Business and Google Cloud have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership, introducing two new solutions designed to empower small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with advanced cybersecurity and agentic AI capabilities. This move marks another step in their long-term collaboration aimed at accelerating digital transformation across global markets.

To begin with, Vodafone Business is launching a next-generation managed detection and response (MDR) service powered by Google Security Operations. This solution combines Google’s AI-driven threat intelligence and global security analytics with Vodafone’s expertise in serving SMBs across Europe. As a result, businesses will be able to detect, analyze, and mitigate cyber threats in real time, addressing the growing complexity and frequency of modern attacks.

Initially, the MDR service will roll out in Germany, ensuring compliance with strict regional data protection regulations. Subsequently, Vodafone plans to expand availability across other European markets later this year. Therefore, SMBs across the region will gain access to enterprise-grade security capabilities without the need for extensive in-house resources.

In addition to cybersecurity enhancements, Vodafone is also introducing Vodafone Business AI Concierge, built using Google’s Gemini technology. This solution represents the first in a broader suite of agentic AI offerings designed to automate business operations. Built on Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, the AI Concierge functions as a multi-modal assistant capable of handling both voice and data interactions.

Notably, the AI Concierge is designed to operate autonomously within business environments. It can engage with customers, respond to inquiries, and even schedule appointments. Consequently, SMBs can ensure continuous customer engagement, even outside standard business hours, reducing missed opportunities and improving overall efficiency.

Furthermore, the solution leverages Vodafone’s low-latency network to deliver seamless and natural interactions. It will initially be available in Germany and Greece, providing businesses in these regions with early access to advanced AI-driven customer engagement tools.

“Vodafone Business is helping millions of SMBs unlock the power of AI without the complexity or risk,” said Fanan Henriques, Vodafone Business Product and International Business Director. “By combining our network and support with Google Cloud’s AI expertise, we’re making advanced, secure AI practical for everyday business use – starting with innovations like AI Concierge, one of the first telephony integrations with Gemini.”

“Small businesses are the backbone of the global economy, yet they are often the most underserved when it comes to cutting-edge tech,” said Oliver Parker, vice president, global generative AI, Google Cloud. “Together with Vodafone Business, we are changing that. By combining our Gemini models and enterprise-grade security expertise with Vodafone’s deep connectivity and customer reach, we are giving SMBs the tools they need to stay protected and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.”

Importantly, this announcement builds on the $1 billion, ten-year strategic partnership established between the two companies in October 2024. By combining Vodafone’s extensive reach across Europe and Africa with Google Cloud’s AI and security technologies, the collaboration aims to deliver scalable, secure, and intelligent solutions to millions of businesses.

Overall, the expanded partnership highlights a growing trend: bringing enterprise-level AI and cybersecurity tools to SMBs in a simplified and accessible manner, enabling them to compete effectively in an increasingly digital economy.
