Halcyon and HYCU Expand Cloud Security Against Attacks

As ransomware attacks increasingly target cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity vendors are forming strategic alliances to close critical gaps in data protection and recovery across hybrid environments.

Halcyon has announced a partnership with HYCU to deliver a unified ransomware resilient data protection solution designed for cloud, on premises, and SaaS environments. The Halcyon HYCU ransomware protection partnership aims to help organizations prevent attacks and recover faster without paying ransoms, addressing a growing challenge in modern cybersecurity.

The collaboration integrates Halcyon’s ransomware prevention technology into HYCU’s R Shield platform, creating a more comprehensive defense model that combines detection, prevention, and recovery. As enterprises continue migrating workloads to cloud platforms such as Nutanix, VMware, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, attackers are increasingly exploiting weaknesses in traditional backup and security strategies.

By combining Halcyon’s anti ransomware capabilities with HYCU’s cloud native backup and recovery platform, the joint solution is designed to protect data across the entire enterprise environment. It introduces features that allow organizations to secure cloud hosted workloads, minimize operational disruption, and maintain business continuity even during active cyber incidents.

“Organizations today face a growing gap between their confidence in ransomware preparedness and the reality of modern attacks, especially as more data moves to the cloud. Our partnership with HYCU extends Halcyon’s platform to protect these environments, delivering the resilience organizations need to prevent ransomware from running and to rapidly recover if an attack occurs.” Jon Miller, CEO and Co-Founder, Halcyon

The partnership addresses a critical weakness in many existing backup systems. During ransomware incidents, attackers often target backup repositories first, deleting or corrupting them before launching encryption attacks. This can significantly delay recovery efforts and force organizations to rely on outdated or incomplete data. In some cases, restored systems may still contain vulnerabilities that allowed the initial breach.

HYCU’s enhanced R Shield capabilities, powered by Halcyon, aim to overcome these limitations. The system can detect ransomware activity at an early stage and trigger a just in time backup, creating a clean restore point close to the moment of attack. It also secures the backup environment from tampering and ensures that compromised access points are not reintroduced during recovery.

“Good enough doesn’t cut it when it comes to cyber resilience. Organizations need more than backup and recovery. They need confidence that ransomware can be detected early, prevented when possible, and recovered quickly. Integrating Halcyon into R-Shield delivers a comprehensive ransomware detection, prevention, and recovery capability for our growing customer base,” Simon Taylor, CEO and Founder of HYCU

The Halcyon HYCU ransomware protection partnership reflects a broader shift toward integrated cyber resilience strategies that combine prevention with rapid recovery. As ransomware threats evolve and cloud adoption accelerates, such solutions are expected to play a critical role in helping organizations safeguard data, reduce downtime, and maintain operational continuity.
