Quantum Xchange has announced the general release of Phio TX version 4.5, the latest upgrade to its flagship Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) network security platform. The new version strengthens defenses against Harvest Now, Decrypt Later (HNDL) threats while aligning with emerging PQC standards to ensure quantum-resistant networking for both enterprises and government entities.

From its inception, Phio TX has supported widely used key management protocols, including Cisco’s Secure Key Integration Protocol (SKIP) and ETSI’s QKD GS 014 standard (EQKD), enabling organizations to adopt the solution without extensive reconfiguration of existing network devices. The 4.5 release expands these capabilities with full Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) interoperability, hybrid key generation combining PQC and QKD, and improved orchestration tools for seamless integration across SKIP and ETSI environments.

The ability to operate across diverse protocols addresses one of the biggest challenges in quantum-safe networking: deployment scalability. Whether organizations opt for QKD, PQC, or a hybrid model, Phio TX delivers a flexible, fault-tolerant, and multi-protocol framework that simplifies adoption.

“Our goal is to help enterprises and agencies transition to a crypto-agile infrastructure that supports quantum-safe key distribution today and provides a path to QKD-level protection in the future,” said Gene Savchuck, Chief Product Officer at Quantum Xchange. “Phio TX functions as a mesh network where the ‘hive’ middleware normalizes protocol variations and unifies key management across deployments.”

To further extend flexibility, Phio TX 4.5 is available in multiple form factors, including hardware, software, and a newly introduced containerized version. The update also adds ARMv8 container support and integrates the industry-standard NETCONF protocol, delivering telemetry data for enhanced monitoring and container health management.

At its core, Phio TX utilizes out-of-band symmetric key distribution, supplementing native encryption with an independent key-encryption-key (KEK). This dual-layer approach secures data transmission beyond traditional encryption methods, protecting sensitive information against both current and future quantum threats.

Recognizing its innovation, Quantum Xchange was recently honored at SiliconANGLE’s 2025 TechForward Awards, winning in the Security Tech: Quantum-Safe CLM and PKI category for its pioneering work in cryptographic resilience.
