Obsidian Security has named Khanh Tran as its new Chief Product Officer (CPO), bringing more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity product management. As organizations increasingly adopt SaaS solutions, they face growing complexities in securing federated, unfederated, and unsanctioned applications. Under the shared responsibility model, data protection falls on customers, while modern SaaS-to-SaaS integrations require advanced security measures. These challenges are further amplified by the rise of agentic AI, which introduces new identity types that demand stricter authentication and permission controls. Many application owners prioritize SaaS functionality but lack the tools and expertise to govern access to sensitive information. Despite widespread Zero Trust adoption, existing solutions often fail to address SaaS-specific vulnerabilities, leaving gaps in configuration management, monitoring, shadow IT, and account governance—areas increasingly scrutinized by both threat actors and regulators.
“Obsidian has the opportunity to create a lasting, industry-defining company. SaaS introduces unprecedented business agility, but also a new frontier in security,” said Hasan Imam, CEO of Obsidian Security. “From my first discussions with Khanh, it was clear that his vision and commitment to customer protection align perfectly with our mission: to build comprehensive digital resilience for all human, non-human, and agentic identities.”
