As federal agencies accelerate adoption of cloud and artificial intelligence technologies, securing sensitive data while meeting strict regulatory standards has become a top priority. The latest announcement from BigID highlights how FedRAMP certification is enabling broader adoption of AI driven data security solutions within government environments.

BigID has announced that it has achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program certification through a partnership with Knox Systems, a federal AI managed cloud provider. The certification authorizes U.S. federal agencies to deploy BigID’s platform for discovering, classifying, and protecting sensitive data across cloud, on premises, and AI environments.

FedRAMP certification is a critical requirement for technology vendors seeking to serve federal agencies, as it validates compliance with rigorous security, risk management, and operational standards. With this milestone, BigID’s platform is now approved to support mission critical systems that handle regulated and high risk data.

The company’s platform provides visibility into sensitive data types, including Controlled Unclassified Information, Personally Identifiable Information, and Protected Health Information. By leveraging AI driven discovery and classification capabilities, BigID enables agencies to identify and manage data across complex environments while reducing reliance on manual processes.

Dimitri Sirota, CEO and co founder of BigID, emphasized the importance of combining security with responsible AI adoption. “Federal agencies are under growing pressure to secure sensitive data while adopting AI responsibly,” said Dimitri Sirota. “FedRAMP certification means agencies can now use BigID to understand where their data lives, how it is used and how AI interacts with it, while meeting the highest federal security standards.”

The platform also supports modern security frameworks such as zero trust architectures by enabling identity aware data visibility and enforcing least privilege access controls. In addition, it provides continuous data security posture management to help reduce exposure and limit the attack surface across federal systems.

A key focus of the platform is governance for AI and machine learning systems. Organizations can track data used in training models, monitor how that data is accessed, and assess downstream risks associated with AI driven processes. Automated workflows further support compliance with federal data retention and minimization requirements, as well as broader mandates from agencies and regulatory bodies.

The partnership with Knox Systems played a significant role in accelerating the certification process, allowing BigID to bring its platform to federal customers more quickly. Irina Denisenko, CEO of Knox, highlighted the importance of enabling secure data management for government operations. “It is essential for our government to have access to platforms such as BigID that allow for full visibility and protection over their most critical asset data,” said Irina Denisenko. “With Knox’s accelerated FedRAMP authorization path, federal agencies are now able to take advantage of BigID’s advanced solutions to better manage their data and govern AI, while meeting the most stringent of federal security requirements.”

The achievement reflects a broader trend toward integrating data security, privacy, and AI governance into unified platforms. As agencies continue to modernize their infrastructure and adopt advanced technologies, solutions that meet federal compliance standards while delivering scalable security capabilities will play a critical role.

BigID’s FedRAMP certification positions the company to support federal agencies in managing sensitive data more effectively, strengthening compliance, and enabling secure AI adoption across complex government environments.
