Bitdefender, a leading European cybersecurity company, has announced a strategic partnership with secunet, a specialist in digital sovereignty and the protection of critical infrastructure, including government institutions. As part of this collaboration, Bitdefender now offers its GravityZone platform—a unified solution for cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance—within the sovereign cloud environment of SysEleven, a secunet company. All customer data, configuration settings, security events, and telemetry information are processed entirely within the European Union.

The alliance combines the expertise and technology of two prominent European cybersecurity providers, enabling businesses and public institutions to innovate while ensuring the highest standards of security and regulatory compliance.

Supporting Data Sovereignty Across Industries

This partnership addresses the growing demand for solutions that comply with stringent data sovereignty requirements. It is especially relevant for sectors handling highly sensitive information, such as financial services, healthcare, education, critical infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing.

Additionally, the collaboration enhances Bitdefender’s channel ecosystem, allowing partners and managed service providers (MSPs) to deploy and manage the GravityZone platform in Germany via the SysEleven OpenStack Cloud. This ensures that organizations with strict compliance needs can meet their obligations without compromising security.

The Importance of Digital Sovereignty

Concerns about data access by non-EU entities, particularly under U.S. regulations, have prompted European companies to prioritize digital sovereignty initiatives. Many organizations are seeking solutions that keep sensitive information, including security telemetry, fully under EU jurisdiction.

Through its partnership with secunet, Bitdefender provides a solution free from potential foreign backdoors, enabling organizations to enhance cybersecurity while meeting EU and German regulations such as NIS2, DORA, GDPR, and ISO standards.

At the heart of this initiative is Bitdefender GravityZone, which delivers comprehensive cybersecurity capabilities including advanced endpoint protection (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), extended detection and response (XDR), and cloud-native security. The platform offers end-to-end coverage across the attack chain and integrates with Bitdefender Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services for deep contextual insights.

SysEleven’s Certified Sovereign Cloud

SysEleven provides a secure and scalable cloud infrastructure designed for organizations with critical IT and compliance requirements. Based in Berlin, the company is certified by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) under ISO 27001 and IT-Grundschutz standards. It is one of only two sovereign cloud providers in Germany that meet the triad of IT baseline protection, C5 attestation, and ISO 27001 certification.

By hosting GravityZone in SysEleven’s certified cloud, all security-related data—including endpoint events, telemetry, and configurations—remains within the EU, ensuring full compliance with European regulations.

“European organizations need cybersecurity solutions that deliver advanced threat prevention, detection, and response while ensuring complete data sovereignty,” said Andrei Florescu, President and General Manager of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group. “Our partnership with secunet provides this capability, enabling regulated industries to deploy cutting-edge security tools while maintaining full control over their data. With GravityZone on the SysEleven OpenStack Cloud, all data remains in the EU, helping companies comply with GDPR, NIS2, DORA, and other regulations.”

Andreas Rückriegel, CEO of SysEleven and Vice President of Cloud at secunet, added, “Our secure and certified cloud infrastructure allows Bitdefender to deliver its robust cybersecurity platform seamlessly. This collaboration represents a key step in strengthening digital resilience across Europe. By combining the strengths of two trusted European leaders, we empower organizations and public institutions to innovate securely and maintain regulatory compliance.”
