Proton Workspace bundles Mail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Meet, and more into a privacy-friendly Microsoft 365 alternative.

Proton has officially launched Proton Workspace, a privacy-first office suite designed to challenge established platforms like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. The new offering bundles Proton’s growing ecosystem of productivity tools into a unified platform, providing users with a secure and privacy-focused alternative to traditional office suites.

The launch marks a significant step for Proton as it expands beyond its core encrypted email service into a full-fledged collaborative workspace. Proton Workspace integrates a range of applications, including Mail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Meet, VPN, and Pass, enabling users to manage communication, collaboration, and data storage within a single environment.

What sets Proton Workspace apart is its strong emphasis on privacy and security. All services within the platform are end-to-end encrypted and follow a zero-access architecture, ensuring that even Proton cannot access user data stored in its cloud. This approach addresses growing concerns around data privacy, surveillance, and vendor control in mainstream productivity platforms.

The suite is designed to offer compatibility with widely used document formats while reducing the complexity and resource intensity often associated with traditional office software. By focusing on streamlined performance and secure collaboration, Proton aims to attract businesses and individuals seeking a more transparent and privacy-centric digital workspace.

Proton Workspace is being introduced with two subscription tiers: Standard and Premium. The Standard plan, priced at $12.99 per month with annual billing, includes access to core applications such as Mail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Meet, VPN, and Pass. It also offers 1TB of cloud storage, support for up to 15 custom email domains, and video conferencing for up to 50 participants.

The Premium plan, starting at $19.99 per month with annual billing, expands on these features by providing 3TB of cloud storage, up to 20 custom email domains, and support for video meetings with up to 250 participants. It also includes access to Proton’s Lumo AI assistant, enhancing productivity through intelligent automation and assistance.

With Proton Workspace, the company is positioning itself as a strong contender in the enterprise productivity space, particularly for organizations prioritizing data sovereignty and secure collaboration. As demand for privacy-focused technology continues to grow, Proton’s bundled approach could reshape how businesses evaluate and adopt office suite solutions.
