Keeper Security Enables Passwordless Logins to Exist

Zero-trust security pioneer Keeper Security is taking password abandonment mainstream. Keeper has announced a biometric passkey login for its Chrome and Edge browser extensions, as well as Keeper Commander CLI. With the new passwordless authentication, users can now log in to their Keeper Vault using their fingerprint, face scan, or PIN, no more typing out tedious long passwords, no more dealing with multiple auth factors.

Introduced in August 2025, the update keeps your biometric data on your device, complete and confidential. And there’s no extra app to install, so it’s easy for everyone – from individuals to businesses.

Why Biometric Passkeys Are a Game-Changer

So what is a biometric passkey, exactly? Imagine it as a highly secure digital key tied to your device. With FIDO2/WebAuthn protocols, it lets you sign in the same way you do now to unlock your phone or computer, by fingerprint, face scan, or PIN. Passkeys can’t be phished and can’t be remotely taken over like passwords.

Here’s why you should care:

  • No longer required to remember hard-to-remember passwords.
  • Log in securely on any browser and device.
  • Backs up Keeper Commander CLI for developers and IT administrators.

“Passwords no longer suffice to secure sensitive information,” says CTO and Co-founder Craig Lurey of Keeper Security. “With biometric passkeys, users can have convenient access to their vaults while reducing the likelihood of compromised credentials.”

Works Across Devices and Browsers

Keeper Security has made this functionality available on several platforms. Windows Hello can be utilized for authentication by Windows 11 users, while Mac users have Touch ID available. And on either Chrome or Edge, the login experience is smooth and consistent.

This release is proof of the wave of passwordless authentication unfolding in front of our eyes. It improves users’ and IT administrators’ lives.

A Step Forward for Security Standards

Keeper Security is an active member of the FIDO Alliance, the group at the forefront of secure, passwordless authentication standards. By adopting FIDO2 and WebAuthn, Keeper allows organizations to be passwordless yet still have login ease and security.

Advantages for enterprises:

  • Reduce phishing and credential attacks.
  • Simplify sign-ins for end-users and employees.
  • Implement passwordless authentication on all devices with minimal installation effort.

Easy Passkey Management Across Devices

Besides simply logging in, Keeper simplifies passkey management. Individuals can:

  • Store passkeys securely in their Vault.
  • Auto-fill credentials on apps and websites without entering a single password.
  • Retrieve passkeys on mobile apps, desktop, browser extensions, or Keeper Commander CLI.

This solution simplifies enterprise passkey management safely and easily.

Organizations Are Implementing Passkeys

Keeper’s Insight Report, Navigating a Hybrid Authentication Landscape, says 80% of companies are currently using passkeys or soon will be to prevent phishing and credential-based attacks. Although hybrid configurations merging passwords with passwordless environments can be complicated, Keeper streamlines it with FIDO2 standards, enabling IT teams to roll out passwordless authentication at scale.
