Prevent unintended exposure of sensitive data stored in the cloud, from innocent misconfigurations and internal saboteurs, to thwarting the most sophisticated malicious attacks.

Cloud Storage Security has announced the launch of its new Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) platform, DataDefender, designed to help organizations secure sensitive data stored across cloud environments. The platform delivers advanced data classification capabilities along with real-time monitoring to identify, track, and protect critical data assets from unauthorized access and exposure.

As cloud adoption continues to accelerate, organizations are facing growing challenges in maintaining visibility into their data. Security teams often struggle to determine what data exists, who has access to it, and whether sensitive information has been exposed – until a breach occurs. DataDefender addresses these challenges by providing continuous monitoring of data access activities, helping prevent risks associated with misconfigurations, insider threats, and external cyberattacks such as ransomware.

A key differentiator of DataDefender is its AI-assisted data classification engine, which accurately identifies and prioritizes sensitive data based on risk levels. The platform supports widely recognized compliance frameworks, including PII, HIPAA, and GDPR, along with customizable classification templates tailored for industries such as finance and healthcare. This approach minimizes both false negatives and false positives, ensuring that critical data is neither overlooked nor misclassified.

In addition to classification, DataDefender enhances security visibility by detecting potential vulnerabilities across cloud storage environments. It leverages proprietary threat signatures and AI-driven multi-stage attack detection to uncover misconfigurations and identify thousands of potential attack paths that could lead to data compromise. This enables organizations to take proactive measures before threats escalate into serious breaches.

Aaron Newman, CEO of Cloud Storage Security, emphasized that DataDefender plays a crucial role in identifying where sensitive data resides, particularly in publicly accessible storage environments. He noted that many data leaks occur due to unintentional misconfigurations or excessive access permissions, while others stem from deliberate malicious activity. By continuously monitoring these risks, DataDefender helps significantly reduce the likelihood of data breaches.

Anirban Chowdhuri, CTO of Cloud Storage Security, highlighted the platform’s ability to combine AI-driven classification with real-world attack insights. He explained that the solution enables organizations to detect complex, multi-stage attack chains and improve their overall security posture by addressing gaps in data protection and access control.

DataDefender is initially available for Amazon Web Services (AWS), with plans to expand support to Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and platforms such as GitHub. The platform is designed to secure both active and archived data repositories, offering comprehensive coverage across modern cloud and hybrid environments.

With the launch of DataDefender, Cloud Storage Security aims to provide enterprises with a powerful solution to strengthen data security, improve compliance, and gain real-time visibility into their cloud data landscape – helping organizations stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
