AMD today announced the completion of a significant acquisition aimed at bolstering its AI capabilities and data center infrastructure. AMD has signed a definitive agreement to acquire ZT Systems, a leading provider of AI infrastructure for hyperscale computing companies, in a cash and stock transaction valued at $4.9 billion. This acquisition is a key step in AMD’s long-term AI strategy, enabling the company to deliver leadership AI training and inferencing solutions at scale across cloud and enterprise customers. ZT Systems, with over 15 years of experience in designing and deploying data center AI compute and storage infrastructure, will join the AMD Data Center Solutions Business Group.

Last week, AMD had finalized the acquisition of Silo AI, Europe’s largest private AI lab, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $665 million. Silo AI brings a team of world-class AI scientists and engineers to AMD, with expertise in developing cutting-edge AI models and solutions for major enterprises like Allianz, Philips, Rolls-Royce, and Unilever. Known for creating state-of-the-art open-source multilingual Large Language Models (LLMs) such as Poro and Viking on AMD platforms, the Silo AI team will join the AMD Artificial Intelligence Group (AIG), led by Senior Vice President Vamsi Boppana.
