Almanax, the leading AI platform for Web3 security, announces the launch of the Web3 Security Atlas—an open-source initiative designed to track vulnerabilities, exploits, and security best practices across the Web3 ecosystem.

“AI is demonstrating significant potential in identifying exploitable code. We believe this initiative can serve the Web3 security industry in the same way that ImageNet has revolutionized computer vision.”

Supported by founding partners AnChain.AI, TRM Labs, Hypernative, and support from the Stellar Development Foundation and a few other industry leaders, the Web3 Security Atlas will focus on Solana, Ethereum, Base, and Stellar. The initiative aspires to empower developers, security researchers, and organizations with a comprehensive repository of historical security data, fostering a proactive approach to security for the blockchain ecosystem.

Despite the open-source nature of most blockchain code and audit reports, existing datasets for security tool evaluation and bug analytics remain inconsistent and incomplete. The Web3 Security Atlas addresses these challenges by providing seamless access to source code and vulnerability data from various blockchain projects. This comprehensive dataset simplifies static analysis and AI-based tool utilization while offering a standardized method for evaluating tool performance.

Building a Safer Web3 Ecosystem Through Collaboration

By consolidating and structuring data on exploits, hacks, and code vulnerabilities, this initiative will help:

  • Companies and Protocols building blockchain projects: Monitor vulnerabilities across smart contracts and protocols, adopting industry best practices proactively.
  • Developers: Identify common security pitfalls and apply preemptive fixes during development.
  • Auditors and Researchers: Access historical exploit and audit data to enhance audits and threat models.

“Security in Web3 is not just a technical requirement; it’s the backbone of trust in decentralized ecosystems. The Web3 Security Atlas represents a collaborative effort to raise the bar on security standards and drive innovation in an industry that has historically been plagued with catastrophic hacks,” said Francesco Piccoli, Co-Founder and CEO of Almanax. He adds, “AI is demonstrating significant potential in identifying exploitable code. We believe this initiative can serve the Web3 security industry in the same way that ImageNet has revolutionized computer vision.”

The first version of the Web3 Security Atlas will be released in Q4 2024, offering a foundational dataset that covers critical security vulnerabilities and high-profile incidents in the blockchain space. Almanax and its partners aim to rapidly expand the dataset, establishing a collaborative platform that will enhance the industry’s overall security posture.
