As cyber threats intensify across essential services, the OPSWAT Emerson cybersecurity partnership aims to strengthen protection for power and water infrastructure operators through purpose built operational technology solutions.

OPSWAT and Emerson have announced a global strategic reseller agreement to deliver advanced cybersecurity technologies to critical infrastructure customers. The collaboration will initially focus on integrating OPSWAT’s operational technology patch management capabilities into Emerson’s Ovation Automation Platform, a widely used system in power generation and water utilities.

The agreement marks a significant step in addressing the growing risks faced by industrial environments, where legacy systems and modern digital tools often coexist. By embedding OPSWAT’s technologies, Emerson aims to provide a more secure and scalable approach to managing vulnerabilities without compromising system performance or availability.

“Our customers need cybersecurity solutions designed specifically for operational technology not adapted from IT,” said Robert Yeager, President of Emerson’s power and water solutions business. “They benefit from purpose-built OT cybersecurity solutions that protect critical, real-time industrial systems while supporting availability, performance, and safe operations. Collaborating with OPSWAT enhances our ability to help operators protect their Ovation Automation Platform with a modern, OT appropriate approach to patch management. It reflects our commitment to delivering proven, efficient, best-in-class protection for critical infrastructure.”

The new solution builds on an existing collaboration between the two companies, incorporating tools such as MetaDefender Endpoint and centralized management capabilities into Emerson’s cybersecurity suite. These enhancements are designed to provide operators with improved visibility and control over system vulnerabilities, particularly in environments where downtime can have significant operational and safety consequences.

Critical infrastructure sectors, including energy and water utilities, are increasingly targeted by cyberattacks, including ransomware and nation state campaigns. At the same time, regulatory requirements are tightening, placing additional pressure on operators to maintain secure and compliant systems. OPSWAT’s patch management solution is designed to address these challenges by enabling safe, controlled updates across both modern and legacy systems.

“As LLMs, automation, and digital transformation accelerate across power and water infrastructure, the attack surface expands just as quickly,” said Benny Czarny, Founder and CEO of OPSWAT. “In environments where safety and availability are mission critical, cybersecurity cannot rely on traditional IT assumptions but must be deterministic, scalable, and engineered specifically for OT realities. Partnering with Emerson allows us to embed that prevention-first philosophy directly into one of the world’s most trusted automation platforms. This is not simply about patching vulnerabilities. It is about fortifying the resilience and continuity of the essential systems that power modern society.”

Emerson’s Ovation Automation Platform is deployed across more than 800 sites globally, supporting critical operations in power and water management. The new partnership extends a broader alliance between the companies, which already includes cybersecurity solutions for Emerson’s DeltaV Automation Platform.

The OPSWAT Emerson cybersecurity partnership reflects a wider industry shift toward integrated, specialized security frameworks for operational technology. As infrastructure systems become more connected and exposed, collaborations like this are expected to play a central role in safeguarding essential services and ensuring long term operational resilience.
