Nothreat Partners With AZAL To Strengthen Aviation Cybersecurity

As cyber threats against critical infrastructure continue to escalate, the aviation industry is increasingly turning to proactive security strategies to safeguard operations. A new alliance between Nothreat and Azerbaijan Airlines signals a shift toward intelligence led defense in aviation cybersecurity.

The Nothreat AZAL partnership aims to bring preemptive, AI driven cybersecurity capabilities to one of the Caucasus region’s largest transportation networks. The collaboration comes amid rising concerns over aviation security, with industry data pointing to a 600 percent year over year increase in cyber incidents targeting airlines and airports. Notably, 71 percent of successful breaches are linked to credential theft or unauthorized access to IT systems, highlighting vulnerabilities in traditional security approaches.

Under the agreement, AZAL will integrate Nothreat’s threat intelligence platform into its security operations. This includes continuous monitoring of emerging attack patterns, tailored threat assessments, and structured knowledge transfer to enhance the airline’s internal cybersecurity capabilities. The goal is to detect and mitigate threats before they reach critical systems, reducing risk and operational disruption.

“The aviation sector is shifting from reactive incident response to preemptive threat intelligence,” said Sergej Kostenko, CEO of Nothreat. “Working with AZAL, we’re inverting the traditional model creating environments where attackers reveal themselves during reconnaissance, before they reach production systems. When you operate critical infrastructure, time is the most valuable asset. Early detection fundamentally changes the economics of defence.”

Nothreat’s platform leverages artificial intelligence and deception technology to identify, disrupt, and neutralize cyber threats at the earliest stages of an attack lifecycle. By exposing attacker behavior during reconnaissance, the system provides security teams with actionable insights before infrastructure is compromised. This proactive model represents a departure from traditional reactive cybersecurity frameworks.

For AZAL, the adoption of advanced cybersecurity measures aligns with Azerbaijan’s broader digital transformation strategy and its focus on securing critical infrastructure. As a major airline operating both regional and international routes, maintaining secure and uninterrupted operations is essential for commercial continuity and national connectivity.

“The aviation sector faces unprecedented cyber threats, and traditional security approaches are no longer sufficient,” said Declan Hogan. “Through partnership with Nothreat, we’re contributing to a broader shift toward intelligence-led security across the aviation industry. Our goal is to establish AZAL as a regional leader in cybersecurity while ensuring uninterrupted service for our passengers.”

Nothreat’s capabilities have been validated through collaborations across multiple sectors, including partnerships with Lenovo in the MENA region and Proxima Tech in Azerbaijan, where it supports advanced security operations centers. The company has also extended its cybersecurity protections to sports and entertainment organizations, including Qarabağ FK.

The Nothreat AZAL partnership highlights a growing industry transition toward proactive, intelligence driven cybersecurity. As aviation systems become more interconnected and threat actors more sophisticated, early detection and continuous monitoring will be critical to ensuring resilience, protecting passenger data, and maintaining trust in global air travel.
