Koniag Cyber Solutions has officially acquired the CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) business unit of SoundWay Consulting, marking a major step toward strengthening its position in D0W compliance and cybersecurity services. Through this acquisition, Koniag Cyber integrates SoundWay’s deep expertise in CMMC, including its designation as a Cyber AB Authorized C3PAO, into its expanding cybersecurity portfolio.

To begin with, this strategic move comes at a time when compliance requirements across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) are rapidly evolving. The Department of War (D0W) mandates strict certification standards to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Federal Contract Information (FCI). Consequently, organizations seeking D0W contracts must meet CMMC 2.0 requirements, making compliance a top priority. In fact, more than 100,000 organizations within the U.S. DIB—including subcontractors—are expected to align with these regulations.

Moreover, this acquisition allows Koniag Cyber to offer a fully integrated, end-to-end CMMC solution. By combining SoundWay’s services—such as gap analysis, readiness assessments, remediation consulting, and Level 2 certification—with its own capabilities in threat detection, prevention, and response, Koniag Cyber delivers a seamless compliance journey under one roof.

Brian Gallagher, President of Koniag Cyber, said: “Acquiring SoundWay’s CMMC business perfectly complements our core cybersecurity capabilities. It allows us to offer truly end-to-end CMMC solutions, from readiness and remediation to formal certification, all under one roof. This expansion enables us to serve many more defense contractors and regulated enterprises with greater efficiency, deeper expertise, and unmatched value.”

In addition, SoundWay’s role as a Cyber AB Authorized C3PAO significantly enhances Koniag Cyber’s service offerings. This accreditation allows the company to conduct official Level 2 CMMC assessments using certified in-house professionals. As a result, clients gain access to reliable, D0W-recognized certification processes, reducing compliance risks and accelerating contract eligibility.

Carter Schoenberg, CSO & VP – Cybersecurity Solutions of SoundWay, added: “We are very excited to be under Koniag Cyber. This acquisition will allow us to advance our mission towards meeting the demand of the Defense Industrial Base, where approximately 120,000 companies will be required to obtain an independent certification from a C3PAO like SoundWay. With currently fewer than 100 organizations being authorized, the supply/demand curve is quite stark, and Koniag Cyber is now in an incredibly strong position to serve those required to become and maintain CMMC compliance.”

Furthermore, the integration simplifies complex compliance workflows for organizations operating in highly regulated environments. Instead of relying on multiple vendors, clients can now streamline processes, reduce operational disruptions, and lower overall compliance costs.

Allen Debes, CEO of Koniag Capital, stated: “We are excited about this investment and the immediate opportunity that we have to serve the vast marketplace currently impacted by CMMC regulation. I am confident that Koniag Cyber’s broad expertise and SoundWay’s specialized CMMC services and C3PAO accreditation will make compliance far easier and far less fragmented for our customers.”

Ultimately, this acquisition positions Koniag Cyber as a leading provider in the CMMC 2.0 ecosystem. By delivering comprehensive compliance, certification, and cybersecurity services, the company is helping organizations navigate regulatory challenges while strengthening their overall security posture.
