Apple released security fixes for older devices as well, in iOS 18.7.7, iPadOS 18.7.7, macOS Sequoia 15.7.5, and macOS Sonoma 14.8.5.

Apple on Tuesday rolled out a fresh wave of security updates to resolve more than 80 vulnerabilities across its mobile and desktop operating systems.

Apple has released iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 for the latest generation iPhone and iPad devices, delivering critical patches for nearly 40 security vulnerabilities. The update underscores the growing importance of cybersecurity in mobile ecosystems, as attackers increasingly target operating systems, applications, and device-level components.

The latest release addresses multiple high-risk vulnerabilities across core system layers. Notably, Apple resolved eight WebKit flaws that could allow malicious websites to bypass security policies, execute cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks, fingerprint users, escape sandbox restrictions, or crash browser processes. These fixes are particularly significant given WebKit’s central role in powering Safari and other web-based applications across Apple devices.

In addition to browser-related risks, several kernel-level vulnerabilities were patched. These flaws could potentially allow attackers to disclose kernel memory, leak sensitive system states, corrupt memory, or execute unauthorized write operations. Kernel vulnerabilities are considered among the most critical in cybersecurity, as they can provide deep system access if exploited.

Beyond WebKit and kernel issues, Apple addressed a wide range of vulnerabilities affecting system components that could lead to network traffic interception, unauthorized access to biometrics-protected applications, process crashes, denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, and exposure of sensitive user information. Some flaws also enabled installed app enumeration and sandbox escape scenarios, further highlighting the complexity of modern mobile security threats.

Apple extended protections to older devices as well, releasing iOS 18.7.7 and iPadOS 18.7.7 updates that patch approximately two dozen of the identified vulnerabilities. This ensures continued security coverage for users not yet on the latest hardware or operating systems.

Alongside mobile updates, Apple rolled out macOS Tahoe 26.4, which includes fixes for more than 75 vulnerabilities. Many of these overlap with issues addressed in iOS and iPadOS, while others affect native system components and third-party open-source libraries such as Apache modules, Curl, and LibPNG. Additional updates for macOS Sequoia 15.7.5 and macOS Sonoma 14.8.5 deliver patches for over 50 vulnerabilities each.

Other Apple platforms also received security updates. tvOS 26.4 and watchOS 26.4 include fixes for over a dozen vulnerabilities, while visionOS 26.4 addresses nearly 30 issues. Apple also released Safari 26.4 with WebKit-related patches and Xcode 26.4 with fixes for two security flaws.

Importantly, Apple has not reported any of these vulnerabilities being actively exploited in the wild. However, the scale and scope of the patches highlight the increasing sophistication of cyber threats and the need for continuous updates.

As cybersecurity risks evolve, timely software updates remain a critical defense mechanism. Apple’s latest releases reinforce the importance of proactive patch management in protecting devices, safeguarding user data, and maintaining secure digital environments.
