Internet Initiative Japan Inc., a leading provider of internet access services and network solutions in Japan, has launched the Internal Vulnerability Assessment service as part of its cybersecurity risk visibility platform, Safous Security Assessment. This new offering enables organizations to evaluate the security of IT assets across internal networks, including branch offices and distributed sites, providing a more comprehensive view of enterprise cyber risks.

Safous Security Assessment, initially introduced in December 2022, offered attack surface assessment to identify risks for internet-connected assets. The platform leverages attack surface monitoring and threat intelligence from U.S.-based SecurityScorecard. With the addition of internal vulnerability assessments, companies can now detect vulnerabilities not only in externally facing systems but also within internal networks. Combining these capabilities allows organizations to prioritize risks effectively and strengthen overall security governance.

As supply chain attacks and threats targeting partner organizations rise, enterprises operating across multiple countries are increasingly focusing on securing both external and internal environments. Since its launch, the Attack Surface Assessment feature has been adopted across multiple industries, but organizations have voiced growing demand for visibility into internal networks. Branch offices often face limited IT expertise and budget constraints, making centralized oversight challenging. Additionally, internal vulnerabilities are often harder to detect without dedicated, localized assessments.

To meet these challenges, IIJ developed a continuous monitoring solution for branch office cybersecurity risks, built on industry best practices. This new Internal Vulnerability Assessment service supports remote assessments of IT assets across internal networks. By enabling headquarters teams to identify and remediate risks in distributed locations without on-site visits, the solution strengthens enterprise-wide security governance. When paired with the external attack surface assessment, companies receive a full-spectrum view of their cybersecurity posture.

The service also delivers detailed vulnerability assessment reports, listing risks and their urgency to help organizations prioritize remediation efforts. Moreover, IIJ Group cybersecurity engineers provide optional consultation sessions to explain findings in detail, available in both Japanese and English. This ensures that local staff and central IT teams can understand the risks and take actionable steps to enhance security across all operations.

By expanding Safous Security Assessment with internal vulnerability analysis, IIJ is enabling organizations to proactively manage cyber risks across their entire IT environment, from internet-facing assets to branch office networks, ensuring both operational resilience and comprehensive security coverage.
