Forescout Technologies has taken a strategic step to strengthen its footprint in Asia by appointing Tsuyoshi Kitagawa as Regional Director and Country Manager for Japan. With this move, the company aims to accelerate its growth in the Japanese cybersecurity market while also enhancing its operational capabilities and partnerships across the region.

Notably, Japan is currently undergoing a major transformation in its cybersecurity framework. This shift is largely driven by the implementation of the Active Cyber Defense Law, introduced in 2025, which will be rolled out progressively through 2027. As a result, organizations operating in critical infrastructure sectors must now comply with stricter regulations, including mandatory incident reporting and enabling proactive government-led threat mitigation.

At the same time, businesses across Japan are facing rising cybersecurity challenges due to increasingly complex IT, OT, and IoT ecosystems. Consequently, there is a growing demand for improved asset visibility, advanced segmentation strategies, and stronger controls to monitor lateral (east-west) network movement. These evolving requirements create a significant opportunity for cybersecurity providers like Forescout to deliver tailored and scalable solutions.

In his new role, Kitagawa will primarily focus on supporting industries such as energy, telecommunications, aviation, finance, and manufacturing. Specifically, he will help these sectors align with regulatory mandates while enhancing their cyber resilience across integrated IT and OT environments. Additionally, he will work on expanding Forescout’s partner ecosystem and strengthening its existing customer base in Japan.

“With enforcement of the Active Cyber Defense Law approaching, asset intelligence and proactive threat detection are becoming essential for every major enterprise and critical infrastructure provider,” said Tsuyoshi Kitagawa, Regional Director and Country Manager for Japan, Forescout. “Forescout is uniquely positioned to help organizations gain visibility across IT, OT, IoT and IoMT environments, adopt Universal Zero Trust Network Access (UZTNA) at scale, and reduce cyber risk without disrupting operations. I look forward to working closely with our customers and partners to strengthen Japan’s cyber resilience.”

Bringing nearly three decades of experience in IT and cybersecurity, Kitagawa has previously held leadership roles at leading technology companies. Before joining Forescout, he served as Vice President and Country Manager for Japan at SonicWall and also led operations at Ivanti Software. Furthermore, his career includes senior positions at ServiceNow Japan, FireEye, Dell Technologies, and Symantec, where he consistently drove business growth and transformation initiatives.

“Forescout helps customers in Japan see every asset, prioritize the biggest risks, and enforce controls to reduce exposure and keep operations running,” said Rob Amezcua, Chief Revenue Officer, Forescout. “Japan is one of the world’s most important and sophisticated cybersecurity markets, and Kitagawa-san’s leadership comes at exactly the right time as demand accelerates for asset intelligence, identity-driven segmentation, UZTNA enforcement, and control over east-west movement across IT and OT environments.”

Overall, this appointment underscores Forescout’s commitment to addressing Japan’s rapidly evolving cybersecurity demands while reinforcing its position as a trusted security partner.
