NordLayer has officially introduced the NordLayer Browser, a new enterprise-grade solution specifically designed to enhance cybersecurity for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). As organizations increasingly rely on web-based applications, this launch comes at a crucial time when browsers are becoming central to daily business operations.

To begin with, the NordLayer Browser integrates multiple security capabilities directly into the browsing environment. It combines browser-native protection, enhanced observability, and access management into a single, easy-to-use platform. As a result, businesses can deploy advanced security measures without dealing with the complexity typically associated with enterprise solutions.

“Companies increasingly depend on web-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications. Consequently, the browser has become the new endpoint,” says Andrius Buinovskis, head of product at NordLayer. “Traditional consumer browsers with no built-in security controls are insufficient to safeguard organizations in the current cyberthreat landscape. However, existing enterprise browser solutions are too complex and demanding for SMBs. The NordLayer Browser fills the market gap by delivering streamlined, advanced security that is simple to deploy and effortless to use.”

Furthermore, industry trends strongly support this shift. Gartner predicts that by 2028, 25% of organizations will adopt secure enterprise browser technologies to strengthen their cybersecurity frameworks. Additionally, by 2030, enterprise browsers are expected to become a core component of workforce productivity and security, particularly in hybrid work environments.

This growing demand is largely driven by the increasing frequency of browser-based threats, including phishing attacks, malicious extensions, and account takeovers. Moreover, SMBs are particularly vulnerable due to limited IT resources and constrained cybersecurity budgets. According to NordStellar, SMBs accounted for a significant share of ransomware incidents last year, making them prime targets for cybercriminals.

“The NordLayer Browser reflects a deep understanding of SMB cybersecurity needs and is backed by extensive industry experience,” says Buinovskis. “It offers deep observability, browser-native security, as well as access management and control without the complexity, rigidity, deployment challenges, or enterprise price tag. All of the features are designed to empower IT admins while maintaining a seamless browsing experience for employees.”

In terms of functionality, the browser delivers several key capabilities. For instance, it provides Shadow IT management by offering visibility into SaaS usage and monitoring web activity. It also includes data loss prevention (DLP) controls, which restrict access to cameras, microphones, downloads, and clipboard functions to prevent unauthorized data transfer.

Additionally, the browser enhances security through IP anonymization, DNS filtering, and web threat protection that blocks malicious sites before they load. It also strengthens access control using single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA), ensuring only authorized users can access critical systems.

Finally, the platform adopts a zero-trust browsing approach. It routes traffic through secure gateways, enables encrypted connections to private resources, and allows administrators to define strict access policies. Altogether, NordLayer’s new browser represents a comprehensive and user-friendly solution for modern SMB cybersecurity challenges.
