Runtime Ventures is co-founded by General Partner David Endler, who co-founded cybersecurity startups SpyCloud and Jumpshot, and General Partner Michael Sutton, the founder of StoneMill Ventures and former CISO of publicly traded security company Zscaler. For decades, these leaders have invested in and launched numerous successful cybersecurity services, products, and companies.
“We’ve chosen to focus on seed stage cyber as it’s what we know and love, having spent decades in the industry building and backing dozens of successful companies. While I know that we have much to offer from our own lessons learned, I’m even more proud of the talent that exists within our LP base. Some of the most successful cybersecurity founders and operators in the world have chosen to back us and they’re anxious to get involved. We’re truly humbled,” said Sutton. “We’re excited to embark on this journey and are committed to fostering the next generation of cybersecurity leaders and innovations.”
“Having been in the trenches building cybersecurity startups, we know firsthand how tough those early years can be,” said Endler. “Great ideas alone aren’t enough. Founders need the right team, resources, and support to turn their companies into successful ventures. We started Runtime Ventures not only because we’ve been there, but we love to help founders navigate those early challenges and avoid some of the mistakes we’ve made ourselves along the way. It’s not just about capital, it’s about having the right people in your corner who’ve scaled cybersecurity companies before.”
The Runtime Ventures LP base is truly unique in the industry with the majority of investors having also been operators in the security space. Runtime boasts founders, CEOs and executives from some of the most successful cybersecurity companies in the world that are actively involved with portfolio companies and deal flow. Runtime Ventures has made 11 investments from this debut fund thus far.
