ZenaTech has announced plans to establish a dedicated drone testing and deployment facility in Ukraine, aiming to validate its defense platforms in real-world, high-intensity operational environments. The initiative will allow ZenaTech to test its Interceptor P-1 and other counter-drone systems under active threat conditions, providing data and performance insights that cannot be replicated in controlled settings. The move is part of a broader strategy to accelerate development of cost-effective unmanned aerial defense technologies for global defense customers.

According to CEO Shaun Passley, Ukraine offers a uniquely demanding environment for testing drone systems due to the scale and complexity of ongoing drone warfare. He emphasized that real-world validation will enhance product credibility and improve system performance through continuous iteration based on live operational feedback.

The planned testing site complements ZenaTech’s previously announced intention to build a manufacturing facility in Ukraine. This facility is expected to serve as a production hub for the company’s Interceptor P-1, a one-way expendable interceptor drone designed to counter hostile unmanned systems at significantly lower cost than traditional missile-based defenses.

ZenaTech aims to leverage Ukraine’s growing defense technology ecosystem, particularly in western regions that benefit from relative stability and proximity to NATO supply routes. The country’s strong aerospace engineering talent pool and streamlined regulatory environment for defense testing are also key factors supporting the company’s expansion.

The company has begun setting up local operations, working with legal and compliance experts while coordinating with Ukrainian authorities, including the armed forces and aviation regulators, to secure testing approvals. These efforts are intended to ensure alignment with local regulations and international export controls. By conducting testing in active operational conditions, ZenaTech expects to generate validated performance data and refine its systems more rapidly. This approach is designed to support future engagements with defense procurement agencies across multiple regions, including the Middle East and allied nations.

The expansion underscores a broader trend in defense technology development, where companies increasingly seek real-world validation environments to accelerate innovation and deliver battle-tested solutions. ZenaTech plans to provide further updates as its Ukraine-based testing and manufacturing initiatives progress.
