Thrive has announced the launch of a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)-approved hosting capability, aimed at helping public safety agencies securely manage sensitive data in the cloud while meeting strict regulatory requirements. The approval, granted under Florida’s CJIS Compliance System Agency (CSA), currently applies to Florida-based organizations utilizing Thrive’s Texas data center. The company plans to expand compliance alignment to additional states over time, reflecting the state-by-state governance structure of CJIS standards.
The initiative is designed to support agencies handling highly sensitive law enforcement data, including criminal records, biometric information, and investigative materials. These data types fall under the Federal Bureau of Investigation CJIS Security Policy, which establishes rigorous guidelines for how such information must be stored, accessed, and transmitted.
Thrive’s new hosting capability addresses a growing need among state and local agencies to modernize infrastructure while maintaining compliance. As many organizations move toward cloud-based systems, ensuring CJIS alignment has become a critical requirement for safeguarding mission-critical operations and maintaining public trust.
The company emphasized that its CJIS-approved environment is built with a focus on security, resilience, and continuous availability. Agencies can securely host and manage their systems in Thrive’s cloud infrastructure while benefiting from built-in backup and disaster recovery capabilities. These features are designed to ensure uninterrupted access to critical systems, even in the event of cyber incidents, system failures, or natural disasters.
Bill McLaughlin, CEO of Thrive, stated that public safety organizations require highly reliable and compliant solutions due to the critical nature of their operations. He noted that the new hosting capability reflects Thrive’s experience working with state and local agencies and its commitment to delivering secure, modern infrastructure.
The platform also offers geographic flexibility, allowing agencies to host workloads across multiple locations, including the newly approved Texas data center and an existing facility in Florida. Additionally, Thrive provides geo-diverse disaster recovery options, helping organizations strengthen resilience and maintain operational continuity.
Joe Holt, Associate Vice President of SLED at Thrive, highlighted that meeting CJIS requirements demonstrates the platform’s ability to protect sensitive data while ensuring accessibility and recoverability. He added that the solution provides agencies with the flexibility needed to modernize their IT environments without compromising compliance With this launch, Thrive aims to simplify the path for public sector organizations to adopt cloud technologies while maintaining the high security standards required for law enforcement and public safety operations.
