Aspen Digital has announced the appointment of Matt Altomare as its new Senior Director for Cybersecurity Programs, bringing nearly 20 years of experience across U.S. government roles in cyber policy, national security, and incident response.Altomare will assume the role immediately, leading Aspen Digital’s efforts to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and technical experts to address emerging cybersecurity challenges particularly those shaped by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence.
Vivian Schiller, Executive Director of Aspen Digital, said Altomare’s background in operational leadership, interagency coordination, and cybersecurity strategy makes him well-suited to advance the organization’s initiatives. She noted that his experience aligns with Aspen Digital’s focus on securing critical infrastructure, promoting responsible global cyber norms, and strengthening partnerships to improve national resilience.
Before joining Aspen Digital, Altomare held several key roles across U.S. federal agencies. At the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), he led threat hunting operations and contributed to the establishment of the Joint Ransomware Task Force as part of the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative.
Earlier in his career, Altomare served as a Cyber Policy Advisor within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, where he supported strategic planning efforts for U.S. Cyber Command. He also built his foundational expertise as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Air Force, including assignments with the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).
In his new role, Altomare will guide Aspen Digital’s cybersecurity programs as they address evolving threats and opportunities in the AI era. His work will focus on fostering collaboration across public and private sectors, with the goal of shaping forward-looking cybersecurity strategies.The appointment underscores Aspen Digital’s continued investment in leadership and expertise as organizations navigate an increasingly complex threat landscape driven by technological advancements and geopolitical shifts.
