Halcyon has announced the appointment of Dave Hannigan as its new Field Chief Information Security Officer (Field CISO), reinforcing its focus on helping organizations combat ransomware and evolving cyber threats. In this role, Hannigan will collaborate closely with customers and partners to enhance cyber resilience strategies while also contributing frontline insights to Halcyon’s product development and go-to-market initiatives. His appointment reflects the company’s emphasis on aligning security strategies with real-world operational challenges.
Hannigan brings more than 25 years of experience leading security and technology functions across global fintech and technology organizations. Most recently, he served as Chief Information Security Officer at Nubank, where he oversaw information security, global IT, and corporate security for one of the world’s largest digital banking platforms.
Earlier in his career, Hannigan played a key role at Google Cloud as a founding member of its Office of the CISO, working with financial institutions on complex cloud security strategies. He also served as CISO at Spotify during its transition to a public company and held senior security leadership positions at Capital One, as well as roles at Sears Holdings, Zappos, and Covance.
Tony Spinelli, Chief Security Officer at Halcyon, highlighted Hannigan’s ability to translate cybersecurity strategy into tangible business outcomes, noting that this skill is critical as ransomware continues to evolve into a broader operational risk.
Hannigan emphasized that ransomware remains one of the most persistent and costly threats facing organizations today, and that many traditional approaches have not kept pace with the changing threat landscape. He described Halcyon’s focus on addressing ransomware as a business resilience issue not just a technical challenge as a key factor in his decision to join the company.
Beyond his corporate roles, Hannigan is active in the cybersecurity community, serving as a board member and advisor to emerging security-focused organizations and mentoring startups. His experience spans both enterprise-scale security operations and innovation-driven environments With this appointment, Halcyon aims to strengthen its position in the anti-ransomware market by combining advanced technology with practical, experience-driven guidance to help organizations better defend against modern cyber threats.
