BlackCloak, a company focused on Digital Executive Protection (DEP) for corporate leaders and high-net-worth individuals, has announced the appointment of Michael Bruemmer to its Advisory Board. The move comes as the company continues to expand its presence in executive-focused cybersecurity services.
Bruemmer currently serves as Vice President of Global Data Breach and Consumer Protection at Experian, where he has spent nearly 15 years. With more than two decades of experience in crisis response and fraud prevention, his career has included leadership roles at major organizations such as Dell, PepsiCo, and Kraft General Foods. Over the years, he has been directly involved in managing tens of thousands of data breach incidents, including some of the most complex cases in the United States.
His expertise centers on helping organizations prepare for and respond to security incidents, with a particular focus on consumer protection and post-breach remediation. This includes guiding companies through notification processes, implementing identity protection services, and minimizing the broader impact on affected individuals.
BlackCloak’s leadership highlighted that Bruemmer’s appointment comes at a time of rapid growth for the company. Demand for its DEP platform has increased significantly, driven by rising concerns around executive-level threats such as social engineering, identity exposure, and targeted cyberattacks. The company reported strong momentum over the past year, with substantial growth in recurring revenue.
According to BlackCloak, Bruemmer’s experience in handling large-scale breaches and understanding both the technical and human impact of cyber incidents will help strengthen its strategic direction. His addition also expands an advisory board that already includes several well-known cybersecurity and risk management leaders.
Bruemmer emphasized the growing risk associated with executive exposure outside traditional enterprise security boundaries. He noted that many senior leaders do not apply the same level of security awareness to their personal digital environments, creating vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit. As threats driven by AI and social engineering continue to evolve, this gap is becoming increasingly significant for organizations.
Beyond his operational role, Bruemmer is also active in the cybersecurity community, contributing insights to industry publications and participating in advisory boards focused on data protection and risk management. The appointment reflects a broader industry trend where organizations are extending cybersecurity strategies beyond corporate infrastructure to include the personal digital lives of executives, recognizing that leadership exposure can directly impact enterprise security.
