NowSecure Inc. has announced the launch of Mobile App Risk Intelligence (MARI), a new set of capabilities designed to provide enterprises with deeper visibility into third-party mobile applications, as hidden artificial intelligence features, opaque code, and complex data flows create increasing governance challenges.

The launch comes at a time when employees are adopting mobile applications at a pace that far exceeds the ability of security teams to properly evaluate them. Many of these apps include embedded AI components, third-party services, and cross-border data transfers that traditional security review processes often fail to detect before risks are introduced.

MARI addresses this growing gap by delivering evidence-based visibility into how mobile applications actually function. The platform enables organizations to identify hidden AI and large language model components, map data flows, and analyze third-party code embedded within applications, allowing for more informed and defensible approval decisions.

According to NowSecure, analysis of tens of thousands of mobile applications revealed that a significant portion contain AI-driven components, many of which remain invisible through conventional review methods. This lack of visibility increases the risk of unauthorized data sharing, policy violations, and exposure to higher-risk jurisdictions before security teams can take action.

Alan Snyder, Chief Executive Officer of NowSecure, highlighted the urgency of the issue, stating that the rapid integration of AI into mobile apps is making an already under-governed environment more difficult for enterprises to manage. He noted that security teams are under pressure to approve a growing number of third-party apps without having sufficient evidence to fully assess embedded risks, a gap MARI is designed to close.

MARI expands NowSecure’s capabilities in third-party app governance by offering deeper analysis and more comprehensive findings. Key features include detection of embedded AI technologies, visibility into country-level data flows, and a detailed inventory of software development kits, libraries, and other third-party components within each app.

The platform also enhances decision-making by providing clear, evidence-backed insights that connect technical findings to business impact. This allows security and compliance teams to better understand risk exposure and make faster, more confident decisions when evaluating mobile applications.

In addition, MARI supports enterprise-scale operations by enabling organizations to review large portfolios of mobile apps efficiently. Findings can be exported to support audit, compliance, and governance workflows, while policy-based rules allow teams to automate app approval processes and enforce consistent security standards.

Beyond third-party app governance, the intelligence provided by MARI can also be applied to internally developed applications, helping organizations validate and secure their own mobile software ecosystems.

With this launch, NowSecure is positioning itself to address one of the most pressing challenges in enterprise security – gaining transparency into increasingly complex mobile app environments shaped by AI, third-party integrations, and evolving data risks.
