Bitdefender has introduced GravityZone Extended Email Security, a new solution that integrates email and endpoint protection into its existing GravityZone platform. With this launch, the company aims to help businesses and managed service providers (MSPs) tackle increasingly sophisticated threats that originate through email and persist even after reaching user inboxes.
To begin with, email continues to serve as a primary entry point for cyberattacks. Threats such as phishing, business email compromise (BEC), ransomware, and impersonation attacks are growing both in scale and complexity. Recognizing this, Bitdefender has designed its latest offering to combine secure email gateway filtering with post-delivery protection using an Integrated Cloud Email Security approach. As a result, organizations can strengthen their defenses across the entire email attack lifecycle.
Moreover, the new solution builds on technology acquired through Bitdefender’s purchase of Mesh Security. It is available as an add-on for organizations already using GravityZone endpoint protection, allowing seamless expansion without requiring a separate platform.
Closing the Email Security Gap
Traditionally, many email security tools focus only on filtering malicious messages before they reach users. However, attackers often bypass these filters, leaving threats undetected within inboxes. At the same time, security teams frequently rely on disconnected tools for email and endpoint protection, which creates visibility gaps and delays incident response.
To address these challenges, Bitdefender’s new solution actively inspects emails before delivery and continues monitoring them afterward. If the system identifies a threat post-delivery, it can quickly quarantine and remediate the issue. Additionally, the platform supports environments like Microsoft 365, hybrid setups, and other deployment models. It also offers flexible deployment options, including secure email gateway configurations and API-based integrations.
According to research cited by Bitdefender, the urgency is clear. Business email compromise-related payments surpassed USD $6 billion in 2024. Furthermore, 42% of IT and security professionals identified BEC as their top organizational threat, while 66% reported a rise in such attacks globally.
Designed with MSPs in Mind
Importantly, Bitdefender has positioned this solution specifically for managed service providers. The platform includes centralized management, policy enforcement, and workflow automation tailored for multi-tenant environments and distributed infrastructures. Consequently, MSPs can manage multiple clients more efficiently while maintaining strong security controls.
In addition, the company emphasizes platform consolidation. By integrating email and endpoint protection within a single interface, administrators gain unified visibility into threats moving across the email attack chain. This not only simplifies operations but also accelerates deployment and reduces manual workload.
Bitdefender also highlights that organizations can extend their security capabilities without deploying additional systems. GravityZone itself serves as a unified platform for security, risk analytics, and compliance management, further reinforcing its value proposition.
Andrei Florescu, President and General Manager of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group, outlined the company’s view of the threat landscape and its response.
“Cybercriminals continue to rely on email as a primary attack vector, requiring organisations to adopt stronger, more integrated defences that reduce risk without adding complexity,” said Florescu. “GravityZone Extended Email Security eliminates visibility and detection gaps across the full email attack chain, delivering powerful inbox protection before and after delivery to help organisations and MSPs stay ahead as attacks evolve.”
