Bitsight has announced the appointment of John Clancy as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately. Clancy succeeds Steve Harvey, who is stepping down after six years at the helm and will transition into an advisory role to the company’s Board of Directors.
During Harvey’s tenure, Bitsight experienced significant expansion, growing its global footprint and strengthening its position as a trusted provider of cyber risk intelligence. Under his leadership, the company scaled substantially and deepened its relationships with organizations worldwide.
The appointment of Clancy signals a strategic focus on accelerating growth and innovation, particularly as artificial intelligence continues to reshape the cybersecurity landscape. Bob Brennan, Chair of Bitsight’s Board, highlighted Clancy’s experience in scaling organizations and leading transformation initiatives as key factors behind the decision.
Clancy brings more than 25 years of experience in the software industry, having held leadership roles across high-growth companies. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Operations at PSG Equity, where he led initiatives to enhance operational performance and drive value creation across a large portfolio of companies. He also played a central role in developing AI strategies, helping organizations launch new products and improve efficiency through artificial intelligence.
In his new role, Clancy is expected to build on Bitsight’s foundation in cyber risk intelligence while expanding its capabilities in AI-driven security insights. He emphasized that the future of cybersecurity will increasingly depend on organizations’ ability to understand risk in real time, contextualize it for business decision-making, and respond quickly.
Industry stakeholders view the leadership transition as part of a broader shift within cybersecurity, where companies are focusing on resilience, data-driven insights, and AI-enabled threat management.
