The Solana Foundation has introduced a new security framework called STRIDE Network to address the rising number of attacks in the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. Developed in collaboration with Asymmetric Research, STRIDE—short for Solana Trust, Resilience, and Infrastructure for DeFi Enterprises—aims to establish a structured approach to evaluating and improving protocol security.

The framework assesses DeFi platforms across eight critical pillars, including program security, governance controls, oracle dependencies, infrastructure, and operational practices. It also focuses on supply chain risks, incident response readiness, and forensic capabilities, providing a comprehensive security benchmark for blockchain-based applications.

As part of this initiative, each participating protocol will undergo an independent security assessment, with results made publicly available. This transparency is intended to build trust among users and investors while encouraging higher security standards across the ecosystem.

In parallel, the Solana Foundation has launched the Solana Incident Response Network (SIRN), a collaborative group of cybersecurity firms dedicated to real-time threat response. Founding members include OtterSec, Neodyme, Squads, and ZeroShadow, alongside Asymmetric Research. The coalition will share threat intelligence, coordinate incident responses, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the STRIDE framework.

The launch comes amid increasing concerns over sophisticated cyber threats targeting DeFi platforms. A recent incident involving Drift Protocol highlighted how attackers used long-term social engineering tactics to infiltrate systems, posing as legitimate entities and gradually gaining trust before executing malicious actions.

With cyber threats becoming more advanced and DeFi adoption continuing to grow, the STRIDE framework represents a proactive step toward strengthening resilience and accountability in the crypto ecosystem. By combining standardized assessments with collaborative response mechanisms, the Solana Foundation aims to create a safer and more transparent environment for developers, users, and investors alike.
