Anthropic has announced a significant expansion of its collaboration with Google Cloud, aimed at accelerating the development of its foundation models, AI agents, and enterprise applications. As part of the agreement, Anthropic will gain access to multiple gigawatts of Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) capacity, with deployment expected to begin in 2027. The infrastructure will be delivered through Google Cloud, alongside custom-built TPUs developed by Google and manufactured in partnership with Broadcom. This large-scale compute expansion is designed to support the rapidly increasing demand for training and deploying advanced AI models.
The move reflects Anthropic’s continued investment in high-performance computing to scale its AI systems, including its Claude model family. With growing enterprise adoption and increasingly complex workloads, the company is prioritizing access to specialized hardware optimized for machine learning tasks.
Beyond TPU capacity, Anthropic is also expanding its use of Google Cloud’s broader ecosystem of services. These include data analytics and infrastructure tools such as BigQuery, Cloud Run, and AlloyDB, which support the company’s end-to-end AI development pipeline from data processing to deployment.
The partnership also highlights the growing role of cloud platforms in delivering AI capabilities to businesses. Thousands of organizations are already accessing Anthropic’s Claude models through Google Cloud, including major companies such as Coinbase, Palo Alto Networks, Shopify, Replit, and Cursor.
By deepening its integration with Google Cloud infrastructure and AI services, Anthropic aims to enhance performance, scalability, and accessibility for its enterprise customers. The expansion also signals intensifying competition among AI companies to secure large-scale compute resources, which are becoming a critical factor in advancing next-generation artificial intelligence systems As demand for AI-driven applications continues to rise, partnerships like this underscore the importance of cloud-based infrastructure in enabling innovation while meeting the computational requirements of modern AI development.
