Deployment of AI-powered telecare platform enables next-generation, proactive services as UK transition to digital accelerates
Essence SmartCare, a leading provider of AI-enabled care and security platforms, has announced a strategic partnership with 1community to support the rollout of advanced Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS). The collaboration will see the deployment of Essence’s future-ready telecare platform, enabling 1community to accelerate its transition to a fully digital care model while enhancing service delivery for vulnerable populations.
This partnership comes at a critical time for care providers across the UK, as the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) switch-off approaches completion. For 1community, a Hampshire-based charity supporting older adults, individuals living with dementia, and people with additional care needs, the move away from legacy analogue systems has become both urgent and strategically essential.
After encountering challenges during its initial digital transformation efforts, 1community selected Essence SmartCare to implement a scalable and resilient solution capable of meeting both current operational demands and future innovation goals. The deployment marks a significant milestone in the organization’s journey toward modern, technology-driven care.
At the core of the rollout is Essence SmartCare’s digital telecare platform, designed to go beyond traditional reactive care models. The platform ensures stable and secure connectivity, even in complex environments, while enabling the seamless integration of advanced capabilities such as emergency voice activation, proactive monitoring, telehealth services, and radar-based fall detection.
These features allow care providers to shift from reactive response systems to proactive and preventative care approaches. Services can be easily added or adjusted over time, giving organizations the flexibility to adapt to evolving patient needs and emerging technologies without disrupting existing operations.
Hayley Malcolm, CEO of 1community, highlighted the significance of the transformation, stating that completing the digital rollout represents a major milestone for both the organization and the communities it serves. She emphasized that Essence SmartCare not only helped overcome previous challenges but also provided a platform that supports long-term growth and service innovation.
Dr. Haim Amir, CEO of Essence Group, noted that digital transformation in care is increasingly driven by artificial intelligence and data-led insights. He explained that the platform is designed to support continuous evolution, allowing care providers to begin with essential services and expand into more advanced, AI-powered capabilities over time.
With the rollout nearing completion, 1community is now well-positioned to introduce new proactive care technologies and further enhance its service offerings. The organization aims to deliver more personalized, efficient, and responsive care while maintaining a strong focus on improving outcomes for the individuals it supports.
The collaboration reinforces Essence SmartCare’s role as a key enabler of digital care transformation. By helping organizations transition away from legacy systems and embrace connected, AI-driven solutions, the partnership highlights a broader shift toward adaptive, scalable, and future-focused care models.
