HYCU, Inc., a fast-growing provider of modern data protection solutions for on-premises, cloud, and SaaS environments, has announced the promotion of two senior leaders as part of its continued global expansion and focus on AI-driven resilience.

Chris Nelson has been elevated to the role of Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), while Andy Fernandez has been appointed General Manager, AI and Cyber a newly established position reflecting the increasing importance of artificial intelligence in data protection and recovery strategies. The leadership changes highlight HYCU’s commitment to delivering simple, scalable, and customer-controlled data protection across increasingly complex IT environments, including those shaped by AI and SaaS adoption.

Simon Taylor, CEO of HYCU, praised Nelson’s contributions, noting his role in scaling the company’s business and strengthening relationships with customers and partners worldwide. He emphasized that Nelson’s understanding of modern IT challenges ranging from data growth to rising complexity and risk positions him well to lead the company’s next phase of growth.

Nelson joined HYCU two years ago as Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development, where he played a key role in expanding the company’s go-to-market strategy. In his new role as CRO, he will oversee HYCU’s global revenue organization, aligning sales, partnerships, and customer success functions to meet growing demand for modern data protection solutions.

Alongside Nelson’s promotion, HYCU has appointed Andy Fernandez as General Manager, AI and Cyber. Fernandez, who joined the company four years ago as Director of Product Management and Marketing, has been instrumental in shaping HYCU’s product vision and market positioning.

In his new role, Fernandez will lead the company’s strategy and execution around AI and cyber resilience, focusing on how organizations can effectively protect and recover data in environments increasingly influenced by AI technologies, including intelligent workloads, automation agents, and advanced infrastructure.

Taylor noted that AI is transforming how data is generated, stored, and utilized, while also introducing new security risks that traditional data protection approaches are not equipped to handle. He added that Fernandez brings a clear vision for integrating AI into HYCU’s platform while ensuring customers can safeguard critical data assets.

Fernandez’s expertise in product management, cloud technologies, and go-to-market execution has been central to the evolution of HYCU’s R-Cloud platform, which supports protection for a wide range of SaaS and cloud-native workloads. In his expanded role, he will focus on embedding AI capabilities across the platform while strengthening protections for AI-driven systems, pipelines, and applications. These leadership updates come as organizations face a significant shift in data management. The rapid growth of SaaS applications and AI-powered systems has expanded the data landscape beyond traditional IT boundaries, creating new challenges in visibility, control, and protection.

HYCU’s R-Cloud platform is designed to address these challenges by providing organizations with comprehensive visibility across their entire data environment, simplified and automated protection processes, full control over data storage and recovery, and the flexibility to move data across platforms without vendor lock-in As AI adoption continues to accelerate, HYCU is positioning itself to help organizations secure and manage data not only within conventional IT systems but also across emerging AI-driven ecosystems, ensuring resilience in an increasingly dynamic digital landscape.
