As enterprises rapidly adopt generative AI tools, new data exposure risks are emerging, prompting security vendors to build safeguards that keep pace with evolving workplace technologies.

DoControl has introduced new capabilities designed to secure Google Gemini Gems, positioning itself as the first platform to deliver comprehensive visibility and control over this emerging AI feature. The DoControl Google Gemini Gems security launch aims to help organizations safely adopt customizable AI assistants without compromising sensitive data.

Google Gemini Gems, developed within Google’s Gemini platform, allow users to create tailored AI chatbots using internal documents, PDFs, and proprietary knowledge. While this flexibility enhances productivity, it also introduces new security challenges. Because Gems rely on underlying data sources to generate responses, sharing them can inadvertently expose sensitive information, even to users who do not have direct access to the original files.

The DoControl Google Gemini Gems security solution addresses this risk by treating Gems as first class assets within Google Drive environments. By integrating Gems into its asset inventory, DoControl enables security and IT teams to monitor, manage, and govern these AI driven assets alongside traditional files and data.

This approach provides organizations with deeper visibility into how Gems are created, shared, and accessed. Security teams can identify all Gems across their environment, assess associated data sensitivity, and track potential exposure risks. The platform also delivers automated controls, allowing organizations to enforce policies that prevent unauthorized sharing and reduce the likelihood of data leakage.

In addition, DoControl enables automated remediation actions such as reviewing, revoking, blocking, or time limiting access to Gems that may pose a security risk. The system also maintains audit trails of exposure events, helping organizations strengthen compliance and incident response capabilities.

“Google Gemini Gems represent a powerful shift in how work gets done, but they also introduce new and often invisible data risks,” said Tamir Passi, VP of Product at DoControl. “Because this is such a new capability, organizations don’t yet have established security practices around it. We moved quickly to address this new risk, as we do with all emerging threats. Our goal is to continuously deliver visibility and control so that as new innovations emerge within Google Workspace, our customers can confidently adopt AI tools without compromising their security.”

The introduction of these capabilities reflects a broader trend in cybersecurity, where vendors are racing to secure generative AI platforms as they become embedded in everyday business workflows. As organizations increasingly rely on AI powered assistants, ensuring governance and data protection at the application level is becoming critical.

The DoControl Google Gemini Gems security launch marks an important step in addressing the next wave of AI driven risks. By enabling visibility, control, and automated protection for customizable AI tools, DoControl is helping organizations balance innovation with security as they integrate generative AI into their operations.
