7AI, a company focused on enabling enterprises to scale security operations using dynamic AI agents, has announced the appointment of Israel Barak as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). A seasoned cybersecurity leader and former CISO at Cybereason, Barak joins at a time when organizations are increasingly integrating AI agents into production environments to modernize how Security Operations Centers (SOCs) function. As cyber threats grow in complexity and volume, traditional SOC models largely dependent on human analysts are struggling to keep up. Many organizations, whether managing SOCs internally or outsourcing them, are now reevaluating their approach. This shift reflects a broader industry turning point where AI is beginning to reshape how security operations are executed.
Barak highlighted what he describes as the “Security Operations Triangle,” where organizations must typically balance quality, consistency, and cost. In human-driven models, achieving all three simultaneously is difficult. He believes agentic AI fundamentally changes this dynamic by enabling high-quality, consistent investigations at scale, while allowing human analysts to focus on strategic and proactive security efforts.
His decision to join 7AI is driven by a vision to redefine how future security programs and architectures operate with AI at their core. Barak expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the security community to advance more impactful and intelligent approaches to cyber defense At the heart of 7AI’s offering is its Agentic AI SOC Platform, which uses autonomous AI agents to investigate alerts, correlate signals across multiple security tools, and deliver outcomes in minutes rather than hours. This approach enables SOC teams to operate at a scale far beyond traditional human-driven methods.
Over the past year, 7AI’s AI agents have processed more than 2.5 million alerts and completed over 650,000 investigations in live environments. The platform significantly reduces investigation times and eliminates the vast majority of false positives reportedly between 95% and 99% for enterprise users.
These capabilities are delivered through 7AI’s PLAID (People-Led, AI-Driven) operating model. This approach combines autonomous AI agents with dedicated AI security engineers who work closely with customers to integrate AI into existing tools, workflows, and data environments. Rather than requiring organizations to overhaul their infrastructure, 7AI embeds intelligence directly into current security ecosystems. A number of enterprises are already leveraging PLAID ELITE, a managed AI-driven service where 7AI’s security experts operate the platform on behalf of customers. This model provides continuous monitoring, investigation, and response at scale.
Organizations adopting 7AI often do so after facing limitations with traditional managed detection and response (MDR) providers. They are seeking faster investigations, more consistent outcomes, and greater transparency into their security operations.
Lior Div, co-founder and CEO of 7AI, emphasized that the real transformation in SOC effectiveness comes not from adding more tools, but from rethinking how work is executed. By combining AI-driven automation with human expertise, organizations can achieve both scale and precision in their defenses. He noted that Barak’s leadership will be instrumental in bringing this vision to life.
In his new role, Barak will lead the development of 7AI’s internal security organization and support customers transitioning to AI-driven SOC models. This includes expanding teams of security professionals and AI engineers who help enterprises operationalize intelligent investigations With over 20 years of experience, Barak brings deep expertise in security operations, threat intelligence, cyber warfare infrastructure, and incident response. His career includes building advanced security technologies and leading teams defending against sophisticated cyber threats, including nation-state actors.
Barak emphasized that the goal of AI in security is not to replace human expertise, but to remove repetitive, time-consuming tasks. By offloading alert investigation to AI agents, security professionals can focus on higher-value activities such as threat hunting, proactive defense, and innovation.
